    Windies domestic one day comp....

...starts either tomorrow or Saturday. Anybody else interested in following its progress? Will there be TV coverage in the Caribbean?

As a big Windies fan, I'm looking for a few young players to emerge. In particular, I'm hoping for big performances from:

Xavier Marshall - heavily-hyped Jamaican opener and Windies U19 star.
Denesh Ramdin - Trinidadian 'keeper/batsman who - I think - captained Windies U19s in the last World Cup.
Dwight Washington - Jamaican quick bowler whose action was questioned after he received a Windies call up.
Reon King - back in the Guyana squad. Be interesting to see whether he can bounce back from injury/poor form.

I've tried to follow some of the build up and practice matches over the Web and - hold the front (well, back) page - it appears that Barbados and Jamaica are the pre-tourney favourites.

Trinidad have lost Lara, Dillon, Bravo and Lendl Simmons to injury; preliminary round hosts Guyana will be without Sarwan and the Windwards/Leewards generally lack strength in depth.

Seems to be a mildly controversial choice as Jamaican captain (named ahead of potential international captains like Gayle and Hinds), but has an excellent domestic record.

I've read that, in a similar vein to the West Indies, Jamaica are quite likely to field just 2 specialist bowlers, given the surfeit of all-rounders they can boast (Breese, Hinds, Gayle, Bernard Jr, Samuels etc).

I don't really see Gayle as a captain figure. Hinds perhaps, but surely Sarwan is far and away the next in line. Gareth Breese is a top class allrounder in regional cricket. He's not been given a proper international chance yet, but I don't see him as a real threat at that level.
Sreesanth said, "Next ball he was beaten and I said, 'is this the King Charles Lara? Who is this impostor, moving around nervously? I should have kept my mouth shut for the next ball - mind you, it was a length ball - Lara just pulled it over the church beyond the boundary! He is a true legend."

Typically idiotic Trinbagonian batting, trying to make this game a lot harder than it should have been.

Still, 1 run needed to win with 3 wickets in hand.
