Waugh to do the unthinkable??

It has been announced that Steve Waugh may be the next coach of South Africa before the end of the season, this is huge news consideration the rivalry the two countries share.

the article has reported that Tom Moodie, Steve Waugh and Geoff Marsh are possible candidates. Graeme Smith is in favour of gaining an Australian coach in order to help them mentally for the future clashes against the worlds top ranked team.
The article can be found at: http://www.supercricket.co.za/default.asp?id=128530&des=article&scat=supercricket/sateam

I would like your thoughts on the idea.

I seem to remember Steve Waugh saying that after cricket he didn't want to get involved in coaching, but that could have been someone else. Personally I don't think he will do it, but I have been wrong before.

That seems a bit ridiculous to me, mostly due to the fact that if Waugh coached SA, he would be coaching against his old teamates.
Might be trivial, but imagine how AWKWARD that would be! :p

^ I said that to my friend today after reading this post.
It'd be so weird, him coaching the South African bowlers how to bowl to Ponting or Gilchrist. It'd just be... awkward lol.

I don't know that the article has any real basis to this claim, other than a vague reference to "names being bandied around". And how come Graeme Smith presents as if he's the guy selecting the coach, all by himself?

I'd be pretty surprised.

It could be a case of mental disintergration from the inside.

SA need a coach who can toughen them up mentally, an Australian would be ideal, but is unlikely to be a good idea in the eyes of the fans or any of the Australian people.

At the moment, Steve is helping the Australian captain on tactics against India, not sure if they are working in the 2nd test.

After his farewell from cricket at the SCG, you can't see him revealing the way to bowl to his teammates. If he did, he might as well move and live in South Africa as he wouldn't exactly be welcomed here.

That's going way too far. Coaching another team doesn't instantly wipe out all the amazing things you have acheived for your country.

Well , I guess I am confused that should I say this or not ?
Cuz of my rep may be I am puzzeled, but this is not a very good post.. What the hell is this all about ?.. Waugh was a player and if he is gonna get the job then what .. I heard that Wasim Akram gave some small tips to Irfan pathan , And there was a media issue ... Once in the past, Bedi gave a tip to Tauseef before the test against India in India and ironicaly Tauseef got a bunch load of wickets right on the next day of cricket , And guess what there were pictures of Bedi in Indian papers with traitor written underneath .I know some dumb fans dont like that but I dont mind or any other sensible person will never mind .We all should have a broad mind and some sense that its not a race based or country based issue . its good for the cricket to spray around the knowledge ... For Cricketers offcourse nationality is an issue in their mind but I guess when they come into the scene then there is one thing "money". I am not questioning their greed or what ever , but thats a fact ...It clearly shows that Waugh is a true pro and thats nice ...
What secrets are there that Waugh is gonna give them ..... All the people know what is their secret . And that would be good and sensible cricket .....
... pakistani and Indian players have many issues in field but I guess they are very good friends in the team gatherings .. Its just rediculous if you think about the rivaleries and this and that ..."Money" and earning it in their most preferable way that is their life "cricket"..............
What if Gawaskar is getting paid a lot of money and there is not much of a media pressure to train Pakistani team .... If Indians dont bug a lot in the media Then offcourse Gawaskar will never mind ... Same example applies to any Pakistani coaching Indians.......
Stay Kool
