Matthew Walker quits Wellington

i hope he comes to ND, he is one of the best(if not the best) allrounder in new zealands domestic competition

Doubt it...he lives in the Central Districts area. Considering he was a former C.D player, he'd most likely go back to C.D

He's a good FC player, but again...I don't think he's any better than that.

Northern need batsmen though...not more all-rounders. Last season N.D had 3 batsmen and the rest were basically bowlers who could bat or batsmen who could bowl!

yeah and hamish marshall never performs for us for some unknown reason, yeah the specialist batsman never get runs either, i play club cricket for nick horsley's club and watched him get 33 on saturday(but we still lost :@ ), also jaden hatwell hit 172 in a 50 over match the week before last and when we played his team on saturday he hit 43 and took 4/11 even though he doesn't normally bowl and he wasn't even picked in the ND squad

Horsley looks like a decent player, but he'll need to score more consistently this season.

yeah he's only young too, he started off decently in auckland but since he came back to ND(where he grew up) he has been nothing short of poor in terms of runscoring, interesting that te ahu davis(the NZ under 19 opening bowler) was selected for ND, i went to school with him last year and he broke our school record for wickets in a season(72) and also took 9/39 in an innings.

Yeah I have met Te Ahu. He came to my club University in Auckland for the awards night earlier in the year. Apparently he was all set to play for Auckland Uni or something but N.D said they would pick him for FC so he decided not to.

I think it all came about because Peter Carey (another NZ U19 player) used to play in my junior side at University. He now plays in Canterbury, so he must have told Te Ahu to try Auckland University or something.

How fast is Te Ahu? I have been told he's getting pretty quick.

funny you mention peter carey he went to my school the year before so would know te ahu pretty good, he scored a few centuries at school and suprising also got over 50 wickets, when te ahu was at school they reckoned he was 130km, but rumour says he has been clocked at 140km.

Yeah, Peter moved from Auckland to Hamilton. So I take it you went to St Pauls Collegiate?
I played Peter in Nelson a few years back in a College 1st XI tournament.
But now he's down in Christchurch & doing pretty good...he's on the verge of playing FC soon.

Shame that Matthew Walker has left, but I hope he doesn't quit NZ domestic cricket alltoegther. ND don't need another allrounder, a few specialist batsmen would be better.

CD would take him I suppose, they would have a pretty handy attack with Walker. Mason, Hamilton, Schwass, Hefford and maybe Oram for part of the season.

Sherlock is a very promising bowler, and has done well on the Tour for such an inexperienced fellow.

just news on the matthew walker situtation, neal parlane has officially replaced him in the wellington squad, i don't know where that leaves matthew walker ? apparently wellington were also looking offshore to draft an overseas player but in the end they decided against it.

His stats in both forms of the game last domestic season were pretty good & I thought he'd done reasonably well in that ODI tour to PAK, and had been unlucky re injury not to have been selected in the 'A' tour to RSA...........
