Hi all, Im new here, ive attended my local village club net sessions recently, having no previous experience i was apprehensive to say the least. This was justified as i was rubbish, i didnt have a clue. Further more, i didnt receive guidance, help, or tips .... nothing. so im clueless and in the dark. Ive been some what put off buy this, and found the sessions intimidating and awkward. So ive not been for a good few weeks, how ever i do really want to play. So ive been looking for a 1 to 1 coach that can give me a few lessons, i found one in leeds..... 160 miles away. ive emailed but heard nothing back. this is proving to be an impossible task and if i do find a local coach they are only interested in kids and teens. So im running out of ideas..... wondering if anyone on here knows of a coach around Evesham area that can offer 1 to 1 to help me out. Otherwise ill be sticking to football. Hope you can help, oh.... im Kev by the way, im 27 and live near Evesham.

Cheers :)

Your local coaches don't moonlight as Catholic priests by any chance do they?

Mate, it should be easy to get someone at the club to help you out...I'd be really surprised if there weren't a few people there who would be willing to help if you approached the club president or captain and asked him to point you in the right direction.

If there isn't then it's pretty piss poor really and I'd be looking for another club to play at before I'd make the 160 mile trip to get coaching off someone. Have never paid someone for coaching before in my life, and my experience with cricket (both here and in the UK) is there should be a level that suits your experience without having to get special coaching just to play.

Unfortunately, in some cases clubs can be a gathering that celebrates a close clique of mediocre talents who vastly over-rate themselves and don't treat new members with the welcoming they deserve. But as I said, I reckon in most cases, if approached, people will be willing to help you out. They probably assumed you'd played before if you didn't specifically point out you hadn't and wanted some assistance.

Lol! i did think there's a joke in that in somewhere when writing it, but as im new i thought id best not. 8-)

When i joined i did tell them that id never played before in my life, dont get me wrong i do have some idea of what im doing from watching videos and practicing myself, but that can only get you so far... i'll have a word at the next nets session and see if i can get some pointers .. you are right, the club does seem quiet clicky but thats not my problem, i just want to play cricket :) cheers guys

You live near Evesham? I know tons of people, I mean I get coached by overseas domestic cricketer (he is immense)... If you have mates or know people that will help... Otherwise good luck!
