Hi does anybody know if its normal for a cricket bat to have cracks running up the grains as i have a bat which i have oiled and have been knocking in but there seem to be cracks appearing in the grains!! is that normal will they split right open?

It's rather normal to happen, when you have scored a few runs. If it happens on a brand new, properly knocked-in bat, I'd inform the seller.

If you're worried you could always throw on an anti-scuff sheet to protect it a little more. The cracks themselves won't affect the performance though.

Nothing to worry about,,,Your bat starts to look like more grains appearing,,this is one indication your bat is close to being fully knocked in, the performance of the bat will actually increase not decrease..Only really quality wood does this start happening to...Really tho...7-10 hours should stop any ugly indentations once you get in the nets or out to bat..
