My desire to be captain

I am not boosting or anything but i am the best and oldest player in my team...i have the most experience...but i am not captain. I really wanna be captain and feel it would better our team. Not that i am critisizing but our current captain doesnt know his bowlers from his batman. There is an upcoming tournament...how could i convince my inexperienced coach to let me b captain...

Dear Saurav,

There comes a time in people's lives when they realise they have to share their toys sometimes if they want to make friends. Some people grasp this idea as a 4 year old in the sandpit in the backyard when their friend grabs their shovel and starts digging a hole with it even though it explicitly says it's theirs in bright red crayon on the handle. Others have the idea forced upon them as the 36 year old captain of a renowned team in a domestic Indian cricket competition.

The best thing you can do is embrace your current captain's ideas in making his bowlers bat and his batters bowl. When Noah set sail on the ark in the Year 0001 he picked a team of all-rounders he thought would be able to perform all tasks required of them during a long and arduous campaign. Perhaps your captain is doing the same. Of course, it's also likely he doesn't know his armpit from his arsehole. Pointing this out and trying to take over will only see you exposing yourself as the mutinous bastard you are. Intent on wresting power at any cost.

History has shown us this doesn't often emblazon the mutinous party with the rich rewards a hard-earned success can bring. If Eve hadn't offered Adam an apple (which he proceeded to get stuck halfway down his throat) then none of us would be in this predicament. It lead to all sorts of confusion, and at the height of it all God whipped out his snake...which resulted in Adam wearing a leaf due to a new found inferiority complex and Eve hoping like hell her fig leaf was made of either cement or leather.

Anyway, I digress. Embrace your teammates and captain in the spirit with which life intended you all to come together as one. There are people dying, and it's time we lent a hand to life. The greatest gift of all.

Yours sincerely,

The BCCI.

KKR played 4 pactice games yesterday with half their team present, against the Free State Eagles. They tried a different captain for each of the 4 games. They lost 3 of their games. The only one they won, they were captained by Saurav Ganguly.

Sometimes people need to just pick the best man for the job instead of trying to create a socialist playpen.

This is where being a part of a team comes in and following directions and leadership.

You should tell the coach that you would like to be catptain. Always be clear and communicate.

Then you must accept whatever decision he/she makes, even if you dont like it. They know how you feel and have made their decision. That should be the end of the matter.

It maybe disappointing but maybe they see something you dont and you need to show that you are a team player.
