bowling action help

Hi,

i put a post up a while back, but i have played a bit since then and an improving slowly.

One constant problem i have is with my arm bending when bowling.
has anyone got any tips on how i can easily overcome this. I guess practise, practise prastise.

If i bowl very slowly i can keep my arm straight , but then it messes up my rythym.
I currently bowl slowly, so until i can sort this out i won't work on increasing my speed.

Thanks for the help.

I'm sorry, I'm not sure how you'd fix this, but I think you're on the right track by bowling slowly to start. I'd get someone to look at your action though, as you shouldn't be degenerating to a throw when you pick up speed. It's hard to say what it would be just replying to a post on the internet. If your front arm is high it should naturally bring the bowing arm over without losing form...this is usually the first thing I teach people who have never bowled before (minus the run up) but as I said, I don't really know what it would be.

Thats still useful,
I guess if i try to keep that front arm high and pointing correctly then everything else should be natural.
I got a few funny looks at an indoor game a few weeks ago because my arm was questionable, so it would be great to sort it.

I'll be back on here with a video once it warms up a bit

At least you're trying to sort it out mate, which is admirable. I've played against some guys with questionable actions and been met with "they've been tested"...really?...where? They're in second grade! It doesn't give you a favourable relationship with the opposition haha

As I said, the best thing to do would be to see a decent coach at the nets and ask them to sort you out...but if you post a video on here I'm sure some of the guys will be able to help.

The secret is to get the right "feel" for what a staright arm is like by walking through the action. You can't really coach that over the net sadly.

Having an open chest action will help you to achieve outswing whilst having a closed chest action will assist in inswing.
