Was bowling in the indoor nets yesterday (I bowl leg spin) and after a couple of overs bowling the ball suddenly started to curve massively into the batsmen and obviously spun away from him which meant he basically couldn't lay a bat on it.

What is curve down to?

Generally, shows that you're getting a better shape on the ball. The more sidespin you get on a ball, the more it will drift.

Yeah Warne used to make the ball dip and do allsorts because of the ripping sidespin he got on the ball. He said that drift used to get more batsmen than just spin alone.

I've looked at the Gatting Ball several times and it appears that Warne put more fingerspin on the ball than usual. The ball also appeared to come out of the side of the hand, almost slipping out, but take from both what you will.

The dip comes from overspin. That's why people talk about the ideal angle of the seam being at 45 degrees, because it combines overspin and sidespin.

Warne also talks about the location of the shiny side of the ball being very important in getting drift.

The spin imparted and angle of the ball are vital but the fundamentals of basic swing also play a big role.

yh well if u do bowl leg break pick the end where the wind blows to help ur drift (curve)
but yh try get the seam at 45 coz wen the ball hits the air the rough side will slow n shiny side will not causing the ball to curve like a swing bowler. But at 45 both the sides of the ball gets the benefit of the force of the air but shane warne put so much revs on the ball that it doesn't really matter where the seam was he still got a bit of curve drift nut make sure you follow thru the ball too
