Your XIs for each CT Team

Ok I apologise in advance because some of my side are not named in the current CT team. My ideal England CT 11 are

Roy
Hales
Root
Morgan
Bairstow/Buttler
Stokes
Woakes
Rashid
Broad
Wood
Mills (Tymal)
Tymal Mills cannot play 50 over cricket, he should barely even be playing T20. Not a dig at his ability, but if you don't know about his condition maybe read up about it. Wouldn't get Broad in either, his economy rate of 5+ is really bad considering the era he has mostly played in, majority of his ODI career 5+ an over would be really expensive. England's bowling options really aren't good at all. Where are the wickets going to come from? Is Morgan a good captain? Heard a lot of people questioning his position in the side over the last 12 months or so.

Morgan's place was called into question but that was over a year ago. Since then, he has started to bat nearly at his best and he has scored 2 centuries this year alone. No doubt he should be in the side. His captaincy on the other hand is a separate issue and to be fair to him, he has learned a lot and is probably one of the best ODI captains going at the moment. I know that's not saying much as captains these days can't really match up to the likes of Brendan M or Ponting but Morgan is doing a great job.

Was kind of aware about his condition and if he can play in the IPL but he bowls at 93mph, how rare is that. Definitely worth trying I think, maybe 5 overs 6 at the most. Broad was looking more at the experience factor more than anything else.

Glad neither is in the squad to be honest. Mills is too inconsistent and barely made nay noise in the IPL beyond the ridiculous price tag. He is about as useful to cricket as Pogba is to football.

He has touched that pace but it's not consistent, maybe he touches 91mph consistently. rare for England maybe but not other countries. Look out for Cummins, Starc, Pattinson, Morkel, Rabada, Wahab etc. If you like pace, they will dazzle you.

My SL XI
1. Dickwella
2. Tharanga
3. Mendis
4. Chandimal
5. Mathews
6. Gunaratne
7. Kusal Perera
8. Prasanna
9.Sandakan
10. Lakmal
11. Malinga

IMO this is the best line up we can get in at present. Not sure if Malinga can make ten overs but lets see. my prediction is that Kusal Mendis will do well for us but cant see us progressing past the first round if I am honest.

Sri Lanka

1. Dickwella
2. Tharanga
3. Mendis
4. Chandimal
5. Gunaratne
6. Mathews
7. Perera/Perera
8. Kulasekera
9. Prasanna
10 Lakmal
11. Malinga

Unsure which Perera to include - I guess Thisara just in front as you might not want 10 overs from Mathews/Gunaratne.
I think I have more confidence in Mathews/Gunaratne than I do some of the specialist bowlers in their squad tbh. I'd be expecting to get more than ten overs out of them.

He looks to be a good ODI bowler but the hype around him, especially his supposed death bowling, has largely been due to t20 form and IPL form. His only challenging ODI series was against England and he looked pretty terrible throughout. His wickets column is inflated due to the Zimb series. I think this tournament will show us a lot. Is Bumrah as good as his stats or is he as mediocre as he seems when I've seen him.
Australia in Australia on debut is pretty challenging I'd say, and he looked awesome at the death there.

He played in a dead rubber. That literally does not know us anything and Aus still managed 330 so I'm not sure what any of that shows. Like I said, his most challenging series was/still is England and he did not look good.

Yeah winning that almost lost game does not look good for a bowler..
Good or bad is irrelevant to the point I made. Let me make it again:

1. Bumrah's stats are inflated by his games against Zimbabwe (care to prove me wrong?)

2. His most challenging SERIES was against England, in which he did not perform well (again, you can prove me wrong if you like)

What does that all mean? Well let me make it very simple: playing one game against the Australians after they had already won all 4 previous games does not mean BUmrah had a good SERIES.

I hope that helps.

To be fair, HB got unnecessarily defensive. I just asked how good Bumrah is and Tobe_Ornot responded he hasn't been that impressive so far.

Exactly. And just because I have an account here does not mean I have not been on other cricket forums and it is pretty much the same story everywhere, there are certain fans hwo believe that everything to do with India HAS TO BE THE BEST. Any deviation from that narrative becomes an argument for them. I'd find it quite funny if it wasnt so common. Take the cricnfo message boards for instance, it's a car crash.

Anyway, back to the topic. Best posisble XIs for the sides participating. I'll be looking to do an Bang XI soon.
