really struggling to buy this line about england only wanting 270. no, they wanted well more than 270.

The entire batting order are to blame. The top 3 for batting too slowly and putting pressure on the last 15, then chucking their wickets away once settled; and the following 3/4 for throwing their wickets away cheaply. Just been an all-round shocking batting display. We'll do well to get 260 from here.
Trott and Bell getting out when they did was far from ideal, but the top order laid the ideal platform for the middle order. And they didn't capitalise.

Well, its a fighting score but if Warner or Watson gets in the mood - Aussies wont need more than 45 overs to chase it.

Virtually any other team in the competition other than Oz would be heavy favourites to chase this down

They are actually favourites to win now with the bookies, the odds were ridiculous towards the end of the Trott Bell partnership though

England really only had a dig in the last 4 overs and really only gave it the kitchen sink in the last 12 balls.
the English were worried about being bowled out all the way to the 49th over.

Pathetic is collapsing to 65 all out.

269 is less than ideal, at least 30 runs short but it's hardly pathetic.

yeah, surprisingly only Bopara managed to score quickly.....England would be disappointed with the final score for sure.....

doesn't feel like it will be twatto's day today.....predicting Aus to be 2 wickets down by the 5th over

The big test for Bopara will be how he bowls here. Given the way the England side is set up, they really do need five proper performing bowlers. If he can't be relied on for ten pressure-building overs in the middle of the innings then he shouldn't be anywhere near the side as far as I'm concerned, regardless of the innings he played today. The only way his selection makes sense is if he's primarily in the side as a bowler, and as weird as that sounds you can make an excellent case for picking him as such a thing at the moment.
