Jeets has no answer when people go after him. His traditonal response is to go around the wicket and people still belt him. See Dimitri Masceranas (sp?) hitting him for four consecutive sixes.

NMac serves up attrocious full tosses but at limited overs cricket he is quite savvy and if people go after him he pitches it full and wide of stump and makes you fetch it - which of course you can't and he gets in the dot balls he is looking for.

If he didn't bowl attrocious full tosses he would be quite useful.

Is the amount of time before PEWS responds and calls him a hack and then explains that is a good thing.

Proudly against the bring back Bennett movement since he is injury prone and won't last 5 days.

Nathan McCullum is an absolute hack of a cricketer, but he uses this to his advantage.

Franklin and NcCullum are the two biggest passengers in our team. Oh NcCullum is good in the field? Nice hustle, skip. We should be able to do better, and it seems Williamson does, and we have enough firepower to actually bowl people out. The problem is a lack of a serious spin alternative if Vettori isn't fit.

Long term Bennett should come back for Bracewell hopefully, but we obviously won't see that here...

Bennett is too busy peeping over the fence at the knackers yard so that he can perfect his impersonation of a broken down horse when he is bowling.

    Just teasing NZT

I see from that latest cricinfo article that NZ are apparently good, honest, hardworking triers. Was blown away

honestly, Sri Lanka have more of the honest hard working type players than NZ.

If NZ were still a better-than-the-sum-of-its-parts team, they wouldn't have been ranked 8 before this tournament, despite having some very decent limited overs cricketers.

If it weren't for the fact that NZ have been absolutely useless against SL, they would be favourites to win this match. Dilshan and Jayawardene are well past their peak, Malinga and Sangakkarra are also a little over the hump, and let's face is, Angelo Mathews is nowhere near as quality as cricinfo believes him to be.

NZ has more quality as a LO side. Mills and Southee are proven ODI bowlers. Guptill has been excellent in ODIs, Taylor is world class, and McCullum is a much better ODI player than test player.

The only thing right about that article is pointing out that the critical point will be how well NZ go against spin.

    On selection:

there is simply no way Vettori can be picked in this competition at all. You'd be mad. He hasn't played in years. I'm not the biggest fan of Nathan McCullum, but at least you have an idea of what to expect from him.

certainly not this game - maybe if we get smashed in the next.

    Nah.

This attack can bowl teams out cheaply and the batting can score big runs.

What we need is consistency. If Nathan McCullum fails in one game, Vettori is just as likely to fail in the next.
