Might have shot myself in the foot here -- my two defensive openers have put on 75 in the first 19 overs.

Thankfully, one's edged it behind. Let's have some fireworks!

Looking at the Withington team, I'll be lucky not to lose this by a stackload of runs.

Hopefully

BTW, what's the score with Heskey? You never play him, but it looks as though he's a decent enough player.

All out for 167 in the 45th over against Beard XI. It's the first Cup match ever that Hamlin has not been successful in.

C'mon Smart.

EDIT: Smart with an early wicket! Would be nice to take a few.

Reed denied of a century, out LBW for 99 in the penultimate ball of the innings.

262/3 was always going to be a decent target, and Connells are 119/5 after 29 overs.

7. Quincy Heskey - 24 yo, BT Rating=29,821
LH Batsman, LM Bowler, superb batting form, superb bowling form, sublime fitness.
A steady player with feeble leadership skills and woeful experience.
Stamina: feeble Wicket Keeping: quality
Batting: competent Concentration: superb
Bowling: worthless Consistency: respectable
Fielding: respectable

Plays as keeper in first class... But he's really pretty crap otherwise.

Anyway, got beaten by 80 runs. Happy enough with the bowling performance (though Ireland got his first caning of the season) but the batting was a let down.

Bromby and Platt saw me safely to Brackenhurst's total:

Brackenhurst 167ao (45.0o) - Steyn 44, Hindle 39, Pead 4-16, Oleary 3-26
Beard XI 168-1 (27.1o) - Bromby 92*, Platt 75*, Smart 1-24

Assuming the last set of matches go to form, it'll be an NRR tiebreaker for the top three spots. I don't have a calculator on me, but by my reckoning PY needs to beat me by three million runs and a Twix to stand any chance of going through. Big ask.
