CW Battrick Cup, season nine

Yeah need to speed things up, bowling's not our strong point and anything under 300 and we'll lose. Another match another 100 from Elmes though. Averaging 186.40 after 12 OD matches this season and over 109 in 68 career matches.

End of Over 40: 185-6, runrate=4.63
Lock 10-0-41-1
Wills* 0 (3 balls)
Brooks 26 (35 balls)

Last Wicket: Dodd c. Howard b. Lock 20 (FOW: 182/6)

Only 1 wicket in that 10 overs. Would be nice to remove the final 4 quickly.

End of Over 44: 204-10, runrate=4.64
Wotton 7-0-35-2
Brooks* 31 (45 balls)

Wrapped up the innings quickly after the fall of the 6th wicket. Disappointing effort from the bowlers really, although the Oz Fan's XI middle order batted well on a wicket that is hard and fast offering the batsman plenty of scoring opportunities. The manager may have to put his hand up and accept he made an error playing a few players with fairly ordinary PFL's whilst a superb sat on the bench.

Oz Fan's XI - 204/10: Grahame 78; Livesey 50; Brooks 31*; Dodd 20
Coco's Nuts Bowling: O'Grady 7-0-38-4; Wotton 7-0-35-2; Lock 10-0-41-1; Chinnery 10-0-45-1; Mabudafhasi 10-2-43-1

Good effort from O'Grady taking two wickets in an over twice. Expecting to lose Beresford early and then hoping the other opener and middle 3 can get amongst the runs

Man just had a shocker when I needed to get a move on:

41.6 W Patton to Darby
Attempted reverse sweep, but he only succeeds in getting a top edge to Britton. Darby is furious with himself for playing such an ill-advised shot.

41.5 4 Patton to Darby
Edged through the slip cordon for four.
41.4 . Patton to Darby
A lot of spin on that ball by Patton and it bounces well over the stumps. Britton whips the bails off and congratulates Patton for a fine bit of bowling.
41.3 W Patton to Garcia
If you play the reverse sweep out of the rough you are asking for trouble.
Extra bounce from Patton sees the ball fly into the sky before landing straight in Ross's hands
41.2 1 Patton to Falk
That's good cricket and the batsmen get a single.
41.1 W Patton to Elmes
Elmes gives himself some room to try to play a fine late cut, but he only
succeeds in steering a simple catch into the safe gloves of Britton.

And then lost another 4 quick wickets in a matter of overs. Gone from 2 down in the 40th to 9 down in the 47th.

There we go! Beresford lives up to expectations.

Hutchinson 4 (3 balls)

Last Wicket: Farrell b. Gordon 7 (FOW: 46/3)

An average 1st 10...run rate is ok, but Greene and Farrell both disappointed. Need these two to stick together for 20 overs now as the batting line up is a bit short on ability after that.

Gordon seems to be bowling through, which could be dangerous.

Decent 10 there, need these two to stick at it for another 10 though to be safe. Would like to see Nkosinathi bring up his 3rd 100 in a row.

End of Over 20: 109-3, runrate=5.45, reqrunrate=3.20 (204-10)
Stevens 5-0-34-0
Nkosinathi* 52 (50 balls)
Hutchinson 25 (34 balls)

Fantastic hat-trick from Kidd, they've gone from 1-65 to 4-68 in one over.

17.6 W Kidd to Whibread
A bit of reverse swing and he tears the middle stump out. Fantastic bowling!!
17.5 W Kidd to Oakes
Big appeal and he's been given! Pitching on off stump and seems to be going on to hit middle, plumb as can be! A peach of a delivery. Talking about food, I seem to be rather hungry all of a sudden.

17.4 W Kidd to Donaghey
Edged and gone! A crackerjack of a delivery from Kidd! That did just enough and Donaghey feathers an edge through to Raptula, who makes no mistake.

17.3 1 Kidd to Fordham
Steered to third man.
17.2 2 Kidd to Fordham
Inside edge and past the stumps. The ball beats the keeper but fine leg does well to stop the boundary.
17.1 . Kidd to Fordham
Firmly pushed out to cover, but no chance of a run.

Pity one of them wasn't Fordham...I think he might be the major concern. Over here at Coco's Nuts CG we're hoping you either get him out soon, or bowl the rest of the team out around him.

Is he their best bat? He's just bought up his half ton off nearly as many balls.
I think so...he's got a rating of about 18000 and his PFL is sublime. Just looked at his team, he's the best bat by a long way I think.

Hutchinson 67 (65 balls)

Seemingly cruising to victory...unfortunately Nkosinathi will probably be denied a century as Hutchinson has gone nuts in the last few overs and Nkosinathi has been simply rotating the strike.

Cricket Web: All-Time Legend
Nkosinathi needs 10 of the last 11 runs for 100...c'mon son! Hutchinson has the strike though...2 runs off the first ball, you greedy bastard!

Then a bye and a legbye :@

Need to get Fordham out asap.

End of Over 30: 132-4, runrate=4.40, reqrunrate=4.85 (228-10)
Ryan 5-0-26-0
Britton* 21 (29 balls)
Fordham 67 (69 balls)
Last Wicket: Whibread b. Kidd 0 (FOW: 68/4)

They've got their RRR back down to managable levels, not good news.

And that's the end of the match. Coco's Nuts won by 7 wickets.
