CW Battrick Cup, season nine

First Class Debutant
Tamil Eelam announce squad

Christopher Carlisle (c), Joe Delgado (wk), Alex Carter-harris, Josh Tailor, Barry Merry, Vic Judd, Nishantha Warnakulasuriya, Damian Mcauley, Owen Mcdonald, Raymond Hirst, Kieran Schutte

The big team news to come out of Eelam headquarters is that Warnakulasuriya will be making his first appreance as an all rounder. Previously the young all rounder has played Cup matches as specialist batsmen. But after over coming a long term knee injury he is fit again to bowl. Along with the addition of recent recuit Raymond Hirst, the Eelam bowling attack looks a lot stronger then what it has in previous cups.

Stupid away games... I want to go to bed, but also want to see who wins the toss :@

Welcome to Male Models CG for the match between Male Models and The Heath CC.

We can tell you that Male Models won the toss and elected to field. The pitch is looking a bit on the dry side. A fair bit of help for the spinners I think on this sunny day.

End of Over 2: 7-0, runrate=3.50
Hinshelwood 1-0-6-0
Mclean* 3 (9 balls)
Caldwell 4 (3 balls)

Solid start. Off to bed.

I wouldn't mind if I don't get a wicket. I don't want Kepler to bat. As long as the run rate stays as it is.

Athukorala is hopeless, I really need a new bowler. I need two actually, preferably one of them an all-rounder. The run rate is decent enough though, hopefully he won't get too much more than 250.

End of Over 23: 111-0, runrate=4.83
Athukorala 2-0-17-0
Mclean* 57 (83 balls)
Caldwell 50 (58 balls)

Lost a wicket in the first over or so, but been smooth sailing since then. Hoping the RR can increase though.

End of Over 34: 169-1, runrate=4.97
Wotton 7-0-38-0
Elmes* 80 (84 balls)
Walsh 82 (112 balls)
Last Wicket: Ryan b. Mabudafhasi 3 (FOW: 3/1)

Looking good for me now. I've gotten two of his key batsmen.

34.1 W Foulkes to Kepler
Absolutely plumb! By the time the bowler looked back to the umpire, the finger was already up.

End of Over 35: 158-2, runrate=4.51
Foulkes 8-0-27-1
Mclean* 80 (124 balls)
Knight 4 (5 balls)
Last Wicket: Kepler lbw b. Foulkes 4 (FOW: 154/2)

Chaseable score, he's got a stronger bowling lineup than me though. Hopefully it'll go right down to the wire.

End of Over 50: 258-5, runrate=5.16
Athukorala 10-0-66-1
Knight* 43 (33 balls)
Hennessy 26 (16 balls)
Last Wicket: Bartlett c. Bernard b. Athukorala 1 (FOW: 218/5)

I hope this doesn't start a BT collapse. I don't really have any decent batting left now.

End of Over 46: 242-4, runrate=5.26, reqrunrate=4.25 (258-5)
Woods 8-0-51-1
Kilkenny* 18 (15 balls)
Daniel 0 (0 balls)
Last Wicket: Bernard b. Woods 108 (FOW: 242/4)
45.6 W Woods to Bernard
Misjudged the line to a straight delivery; clean bowled. Bernard shakes his head as he trudges off past the smiling Woods.

And that's the end of the match. Male Models won by 6 wickets.
The Heath CC 258-5

Male Models The Heath CC
Top Order: respectable proficient
Middle Order: mediocre feeble
Lower Order: worthless worthless
Seam Bowling: competent competent
Spin Bowling: respectable mediocre
Fielding: woeful feeble

I thought my middle order rating would be at least competent.

I think we're pretty close really. If Kepler was on his game, I'm pretty sure the result would have been different.

Yeah, in hindsight I probably should have opened with him to give him more chance to shine. Mclean did well, but scored really slowly. Perhaps if I hadn't GFI'd on Friday... Who knows?! Anyway, well done :) you're a strong favourite to go through to the main draw I'd say, hopefully I can get there with you!
