Totally hammering them. Will set the declaration at 1000, as I'll be able to bowl them out twice pretty easily.

Sold Thorpe for 816k, had hoped to get closer to £1m but it seems that the TM is calming down a bit now. Still, I have over £1m in the bank for the first time ever, so can't be bad.

Have set defensive orders today, hoping to play out a draw over the next couple of days.

403 runs to go. Not impossible but I'll need a really big partnership between these two and then have to hope everyone contributes. At least I'll get 3 days worth of gate receipts. I've got 43,000 over the first two days.

I don't get this game, my three worst bowlers have taken three wickets. My two best batsmen got out for single figure scores and my medicore batsmen got 100s. Oh well hopefully I can roll them for 250 odd, then send them back in and bowl them out again. I hope I set my tactics as "Make them follow on"

Well, you never know; maybe my second string bowlers do have 20 wickets in 'em:

End of Over 9 (1 runs). Adwick C.C.: 26-2, runrate=2.89
Trail by 526 runs. (Beard XI 552-5 dec)
Wilde 5-0-10-2
York* 0 (12 balls)
Hansen 0 (3 balls)

Oop, there goes another as I type! Sweet.

Edit: Wilde knocks over two in an over, and we're in to the tail. Game on! :)

End of Over 17 (1 runs, 1lb). Adwick C.C.: 49-5, runrate=2.88
Trail by 503 runs. (Beard XI 552-5 dec)
Wilde 9-0-18-4
York* 10 (39 balls)
Weerakoon 0 (1 balls)

On day one, playing Rickmansworth (AidanSwain) on a greentop, I knock up 243ao, thanks mainly to a Sandwith rescue job (145*).

My bowlers then got them down to 71/6 overnight with all the recognised batsmen out. Not bad, thought I, considering that he's got a pretty good top order.

However, I'd neglected to bowl John at all. I think this made him angry -- he came in this morning and finished with 3-3-0-1. Then, with the new ball in the 2nd innings (not what he's used to, being a spinner), he's taken 5 out of 6 quick wickets, including a hattrick, with the 6th being a run out off his bowling.

Rickmansworth 55/6, trailing by 109 runs and John's finished his spell on 9-3-23-5, giving him 12-6-23-6 for the match.

Should be all over soon. I'm loving FC.

It's all over!

Hardy wraps up the last wicket to finish with 3.1-3-0-2.

Withington win by an innings and 107 runs -- I'd never have guessed that.

I'm off for a celebratory bit of lunch. Oh yeah!

Thanks bugssy.

I had a look at Rickmansworth's ratings over lunch -- Exceptional/Resp batting and Wonderful/Quality bowling, I think it was, whereas I had Strong/Prof and Qual/Qual. I can only conclude that AidanSwain underestimated my bowling (think I rested Gibb last game) and played it too attacking...which is just silly on a greentop, even if it was fairly sunny.

Still surprised that it was John (Sp) that did the damage -- Gibb (FM) or Brooker (FM), I'd not have been surprised by. While he is my highest skilled bowler, you just don't expect that sort of performance by a spinner with the new ball on a 2nd day (3rd if you map it to real life, I suppose) pitch. I mean, he ran though five (six if you count run outs) good batsman (BTRs 20k-70k IIRC) in absolutely no time at all.

Put it down to one of those things -- I've been on the wrong side of too many kickings recently, so I'm enjoying it while it lasts.

Knocked 'em over for 182 shortly after lunch, had them follow on. Now things are going more like I expected, but I've still got a day and a half and 310 runs in hand to get them out. Really does seem to get easier to bat in the afternoon, though.

End of Over 12 (6 runs). Adwick C.C.: 60-0, runrate=5.00 (1st Inn: 182-10)
Trail by 310 runs. (Beard XI 552-5 dec)
Wilde 6-1-37-0
Conelly* 35 (44 balls)
Bryant 20 (28 balls)

Gave away hilarious amounts of extras in their first innings, can't wait to see the scoresheet. There were 13 in one over at one point.

Most of my wickets (both for and against) seem to have happened in the morning. Ho hum.
