Depends on his stamina. A good week and a half to two weeks for a mediocre/competent stam player, I'd've thought (but that's just a semi-edumacated guess).

Bowled out my opponents for 242 with three balls remaining - 5-fer for Oleary sees him starting this season in some style given his 11-wicket hall in FC. Bit disappointed not to have restricted them more, given I had them 74-8, but I'd have taken that before the match started. Don't see my lot chasing it, but the Pope springs eternal and all that...

End of Over 50: 242-10, runrate=4.84
Piercy 9-0-57-1
Haynes* 1 (1 balls)

The players are off the field for the break between innings.

End of Over 50: 258-2, runrate=5.16
Talbot 10-0-50-0
Platt* 112 (134 balls)
Mckay 56 (46 balls)

Last Wicket: Raven b. Hennessy 34 (FOW: 155/2)

Hennessy finished with figures of 10-0-34-2. A really good effort but probably going to be too much for my guys to beat.

Edit: 15/2 after 5 overs, both openers gone cheaply again. Sutton has had ducks in his first three innings this season.

Thorpe's certainly giving it a go!

Edit: Thorpe's out, basically all over now. 71/5.

Saw off the uber-spinner's first spell with only one wicket gone (and not to him); just lost a second, but am ahead of the run-rate with my two best batsmen at the crease. Not much more batting left to come, though. Exciting stuff, didn't expect to get even a sniff of this game. :)

Good start for me, might have a better chance of winning than I thought.

Asterix XI v Borderliners

Asterix XI won the toss and elected to field.
Pitch: Hard and Fast

End of Over 12: 54-4, runrate=4.50
Downer 6-0-21-2
Kirby* 12 (11 balls)
Butler 0 (0 balls)
Last Wicket: Hedley c. Sellars b. Downer 2 (FOW: 54/4)

Downer set to bowl 10 straight so hopefully he'll take one or two more. Watkins with the other two wickets to fall, Whitehorne yet to bowl.

Get the **** in.

And that's the end of the match. Beard XI won by 8 wickets.
Fair enough 242-10 (49.3o)
Beard XI 246-2 (41.5o)

Awesome start to the season. No let-up, though, got a reasonably competitive cup match on Sunday, a tight FC match on Tuesday and then the only other even vaguely decent team in my OD league next Friday. Oh, and I have this job thing to do as well, or so my boss keeps telling me.

A lost today for my side but not too dishartned as it was against one of the stronger side of last season.

I got walloped -- bowled out for 42, despite having a full side out :(

Fitness levels haven't recovered from the beating they took during the BT20 -- I went into today's match with most of my players on 7 or 8 out of 10. I can never remember what the fitness levels are called!

Lost by two fricking runs!

Aquantra CC 187 A/O, Lovergrove 104*, Jeffery 4/30, Bewers 3/31
Cymru Gurgitaters 185 A/O, Patel 71, Noon 32, Akhtar 23, Cash 19, Mohammed 13*.

Guess there's going to be a lot of that for me this season! My league is so close that I could finish anywhere from 2nd to last! It's more the manner of the defeat which is annoying, Mohammed just kept exposing the tail, when he had eight or so overs to get about fifteen runs!

Not sure exactly what to do with the priority settings for my bowlers. If I make Lee no.1, will he in turn open the bowling? Sweeney did way too much bowling I feel, but he is suppose to open the bowling so I had him set to 1. Vermaak and Lee should be doing the bulk of the work. But anyhow, maximum points from the opening fixture to take us top after round 1. Fitness seems to have been affected slightly but nothing major as originally feared.

A quick question if someone could set me straight, if a player doesn't play in a TIE, does he still receive the fitness benefits of it???.

Aaaaaahhhh, so gutted! Went out with my side on 81/6 chasing 259 to win. Came back to find that my no.7 (comp/abys) and 8 (med/woe) had put on 148 for the 7th wicket to get us within touching distance -ended up falling 10 runs short. Should never have got anywhere near that close really, but can't help but think what might have been if I'd GFI'd it :-(

Coatham Sloggers: 258/2 (50) Platt 112* (134), McKay 56* (46), Powell 51 (47), Hennessy 2/34 (10)

The Heath CC: 248/10 (48) Talbot 93* (97), Hennessy 71 (72), Goode 5/22 (9)

On the plus side, one of the better teams in my OD league has suddenly gone bot - must have gone bankrupt or something. Anyway, that makes my chances of staying up far better, so hopefully I'll be competing in Div V next year in the OD game, whilst winning games in Div VI FC cricket and building up morale and membership etc. So I'm pretty happy about that.

A TIE doesn't give any boost like it used to - it just means the PFL of the players who do play drops a bit less (30% less, if I remember correctly).

So to players who don't play, it's just like any other day without a match; their PFL goes up a certain amount at the daily update, depending on their stamina.

Reckon I might train him tbh, need another bowler and of my three current seamers, only Canning isn't medium, so he's ideal in that regard too.
