Really wanting to get back into BT, so am thinking of selling my trainees when they pop next. Need something to give me motivation.
Playing a pretty crucial FC match atm. Brackenhurst - 333/10 off 93.3 overs Burnip 179 (260) Hamlin 75 (88) Hindle 42 (89) Welsh 5/82 (28) Rollins 4/47 (19.3) dalesdoogys - 57/1 off 16 overs London 37* (56) Viduka 14* (25) Littlejohn 1/30 (6) Not a terrible start, but would not like to think where we'd be without Zia. Smart needs to step up with the ball.

Playing Fuller again today. Posted 250 (Elmes made half of it) and thought it would never be enough but things are looking pretty good at the moment, one more quick wicket and I'm home.
End of Over 35: 169-6, runrate=4.83, reqrunrate=5.67 (253-3) Ryan 6-0-34-1 Bell* 47 (49 balls) Shamshad 5 (14 balls) Last Wicket: Pietersen lbw b. Suttonwood 27 (FOW: 148/6) That said, he probably doesn't check anymore and all he's players are heaps fatigued.

Defending 303 on a cracked pitch against the best batting in the league. Pead and Oleary got me off to a decent start, but Gill is getting flayed to all corners. Could be a tense finish if this partnership isn't broken or contained by someone. I really hate having Dan Cahill in my league.
End of Over 16: 89-3, runrate=5.56, reqrunrate=6.32 (303-4) Gill 3-0-28-0 Collymore* 10 (11 balls) Cahill 49 (35 balls) Last Wicket: Govender c. Bromby b. Oleary 10 (FOW: 60/3) Edit: Really close one, this - they're 207-3 after 37 overs, I was 208-2. Going to have to hope for a collapse in the last 10, I think, and it's far from guaranteed that either one of these batsmen will fail. Edit edit: Well, piss. My first league defeat of the season, and that probably stuffs my hopes of automatic promotion to III as my NRR is too rubbish to do it without going unbeaten. Overhauled with one ball to spare. Bloody NT batsmen. Last edited by Dead Badger; 15-08-2008 at 09:58 AM. |

It's about my fourth season of Battrick and I'm needing some advice because I get cruicified each game.
Is it worth cutting my youth academy and some of my staff to make money? I'm sort of stagnant at 300K and probably falling slightly. Also, when it comes to assigning ITSs, what is the best way to do it? |

I run the academy just long enough to make three max-ITS pulls at the start of each season, when they're worth most, so I put max investment in on weeks 9-18. This strategy has yet to produce one even vaguely valuable player, of course, but it's just a matter of time. Oh yes, just you wait and see. I wouldn't invest anything in ITS until you've got 1.6m in the bank (for max interest), then try very hard to stay above 1.6m. I basically treat it as the zero point; it's crazy to give up 80k a week by not having that much in the bank.
As for cutting staff, which staff do you mean? You need 5-6 sports psychs and ten coaches, or your nets aren't doing you as much good as they could. Then the amount of PRs and FAs can just be optimised depending on how much cash and how many members you have - check out www.garyjones.co.uk/battrick to find out the right numbers. ITS depends on what you want to pull; basic batsman/bowler you stick 12 on the primary, and 11 or 12 on the primary and stamina (choose which one gets 11, it makes very little difference). Pulling wicketkeepers and all-rounders is more of a lottery; let someone else do it, IMO. |
