Useless with the new ball, basically just another spinner.

Is there really a new ball effect in BT, though? I could've sworn it was one of those things Allan mumbled something about "wanting to include at some point", back in a Q&A ages ago.
(And by "new ball effect" I mean a bowler-dependent one - obviously you can pretty much only take wickets in the first 10-12 overs and the last 10, but as far as I've seen it doesn't matter what bowler types are used when...) |

Pretty much finished off the base of my 2nd XI side. Have to admitt I am liking the look of them, well as 2nd XI team:
Gavin Hilton: Prof/Fee Bat, Resp Stam Elvis Cunningham: Comp/Med Bat, Med wk, Med Stam Hasar Obeysekera: Resp/Fee Bat, Comp/Fee RHS, Resp Stam Eddie Allison: Resp/Fee Bat, Med wk, Fee Stam Dave Evans: Prof/Fee Bat, Woe Stam Arthur Beaumont: Resp/Woe Bat, Prof/Fee RHS, Fee Stam Katchi Velupillai: Med/Comp Bat, Resp Stam Suvik Gunatilleke: Comp/Woe Bat, Fee Stam Shahed Juzar: Comp/Woe Bat, Comp/Woe LHS, Comp Stam Kavith Priyantha: Comp/Fee LF, Resp Stam Phillip Granville: Prof/Woe RFM, Woe Stam Should be interesting to see how they go in Cup and BT20 this season. Remind me a lot of my side back in the day. Cunningham will probably get replaced by med YP, his 32 so about to plop. |

Nothing wrong with medium pacers; they take fewer wickets than faster bowlers, but are more economical. Getting a medium pacer as a trainee isn't a bad idea as long as they're not destructive, but as 'tinho said you don't want too many of them.

Gah, so frustrating. Tempted to train him simply because of the slight headstart he's got with consistency. Would get 2 bowling nets... (or not)

Been absolutely stuffed by my early season fixtures. Drawn another div IV side in the cup; beatable, but would need a GFI to be sure. Then the demotee into my FC league; again, beatable, but needs a first team and will probably go to three days. Then the winner of my OD league from last season, against whom I really need to GFI to stand much chance. So it's week one, and realistically, I've already got to jettison at least one competition, or be scraping my players off the floor by Saturday. Choices, choices...

Andrew Hunter (1882139)
RH Batsman, RFM Bowler, respectable batting form, respectable bowling form, fresh fitness. A cautious player with superb leadership skills and abysmal experience. Plays For: foxys bombers Nationality: Australia Age: 17 Years Old Battrick Rating: 3,784 Wages: £626 p/w Stamina: mediocre Wicket Keeping: worthless Batting: worthless Concentration: worthless Bowling: competent Consistency: mediocre Fielding: worthless Another nice YP. I think he is close to respectable so I will give him a bowling net until he pops and then decide what to do with him. Quote:

Don't worry too much guys. Reckon after a couple seasons of playing the game, your sides would be a lot better the that. Spikey if your side worse then that and have nets, I would train Hunter in a heartbeat.

This is my second season now. I'm not counting my first half a season in BT as I was a crap.manager who didn't really understand the game... ![]() For now, I only have a bowling net free. And I plan to rotate that around with a few players who are close to poping (IE 3 or so weeks away). Though by mid-season I may have a fielding net free so I may get him to respectable now, leave him until mid-season and then give him a bowling and fielding net. |
