That probably marks the end of Buckley's batting training -- he'll go up to Remarkable bowling shortly, and that's his lot. Already got one decent (Sensational) spinner, whereas I need to train up a few more quicks...and quickly too!

Which brings me on to Harbin, who'll be my killer strike bowler one day. Treble-poppage, which is nice. My belief is that, as the game matures, the top teams will all have bowlers who can bat to some extent. I want to get up there too, and now's the time to start.

Sorry to take so long to respond, collating the CW Cup results (twice!) pretty much wiped out yesterday for me! But I reckon you're onto something. Against teams like VaVaVoom, or whatever they call themselves, I think there's a lot to be said for the 'Rope-a-dope' approach. I've previously done it against Respite in our league, and will be doing so again on Friday. They similarly have nothing at all too scary, save for Tuckett, who's triple Elite or something equally as ridiculous, and he always bowls his ten out from the start. I tend to pack out my top order with my weaker batsmen on V.Def, pretty much as cannon-fodder, in the hope that if I give Tuckett his obligatory three or four wickets in the first twenty, then the likes of Greening and Noon can evade his attentions, hiding around No.6/7. Although this tactic isn't without it's inherent dangers, as if the first two or three go down too quickly, Tuckett can build up critical inertia and the whole house of cards comes tumbling down. But I've played him three times, and it's currently 2:1 in my favour, so I reckon it's worth a try.

Our league is going to be really tough this season. I reckon VaVaVoom's position flatters them slightly, but nevertheless there are seven sides who could easily stake a claim to a top-four finish.

If today's FC match doesn't go my way, I'll be sacking it off for this season, in order to concentrate fully on OD survival.
