Some people are f**king mad!!! 34YO Resp/Sup, Strong/Prof Steve Cash sold to NZ numpty Pentone Riverside for £900,932!! A cool £45K more than I paid for him as a 28YO!

I can see how he's extremely cheap compared to similarly skilled players, but his Stam is crashing faster than American house-prices. I thought someone, especially a newbie, would get two decent seasons out of him, and he'd therefore represent good value for money at £200/£300K, but £900K is crazy!

Set an underwhelming total in an unexpected BT20 match (unexpected because I came third in my group, and seem to have got through to make up the numbers). Since I was unlucky enough to draw the Tykes, though, I'm happy enough just to have made it past 100.

End of Over 20: 130-5, runrate=6.50
Cairns 4-0-17-2
Janes* 20 (19 balls)
Oleary 2 (2 balls)
Last Wicket: Ganfield b. Cairns 6 (FOW: 128/5)

Edit: so unexpected was this match, in fact, that I played and won a match yesterday without noticing at all. Well I never. I wondered why my players were so pooped this morning.

Edit edit: actually came reasonably close to winning it, but for a couple of disastrously profligate overs at the death. No complaints here, then.

And that's the end of the match. The Tykes won by 4 wickets.
Beard XI 130-5
The Tykes 132-6

End of Over 19: 132-6, runrate=6.95
Oleary 3-1-27-1
Shafqatullah* 13 (9 balls)
Hook 18 (6 balls)

Browne 18 (9 balls)
Last Wicket: Cooper Run Out 18 (FOW: 50/3)

Set to bow out of the cup here...

It is possible that he is the best keeper prospect in NZ, but i wouldnt waste that many nets on him.
Ditto. There's absolutely no point triple-netting unless you're trying desperately to get someone into the U19 squad. In the long run, it's actually less efficient to triple net than it is to just double-net then drop to a single when the player's a bit older.

Less efficient, as in it'd take more unit nets to get to a particular skill level. As long as we're dealing in Remarkable+, anyway.

I'd be tempted to use 2x batting, 2x WK and 1x fielding for now, then replace one of the primary nets with a stamina one when he hits 19.

Not big on friendlies tbh. But with two likely GFI coming up in the next two days. My players will be knacked come Sunday. So next week is more likely. Play Hak IMO.
Got one with Morkles anyway, should be a cracker. Will take you on next week then if that's OK.

Stamina: respectable Wicket Keeping: worthless

Fielding: competent

Not cheap.

I was wondering if someone could give me some pointers on how to accelerate the development of his secondaries.

He's obviously going to need one bat and one bowling net, but does he need a WK net to enhance those secondaries? Does WK only enhance 'Consistency'? Any recommendations??

PY

International Coach
1 bat, 1 bowl and 1 fielding net I reckon. That should train all the necessary faculties. Maybe a stamina net at some point in the future.

WK would just add unnecessary wages without ever being useful, unless you needed to super accelerate his secondaries.

Does a fielding net improve secondaries as well??

Got a couple other managers that want to be play me as well, for some reason. I guess my big mouth thas found it way onto the sledging as well. Your on top of list, but I'm going away for work next week and I'm not going to arrange friendlies until I'm got of BT20. Could be tomorrow or maybe mid next week. Will play it by ear.

Glad to see he went to a good home. He was my favourite BT player ever, but it was time for him to push on before he was too old for me to get good money for him. Will forever love him.

He managed a perfect farewell as well, taking 5-fer in my playoff to lead me to victory. What a star.

Code:
And that's the end of the match. Central Districts won by 8 wickets.
Enfield Farmers 114-10
Central Districts 115-2
Hodge 10-2-22-5
Lambert 7-1-20-3

Very very happy for Hodgey. Deserved to be carried off for his performance. Dylan also steadied the ship with 66* (53) after we lost Conn and Keane early for not much.
