First quality rating.
Congrats. That's what you miss out on as your team gets better -- it's entirely possible that I'll never again train a player to a 'new' rating :(

Still, there's a reason for that :)

I had a couple of pops, none of them Earth-shattering.

Hardy, my 5th bowler, has popped to Respectable fielding -- trying to balance his bowling, as he's currently Quality/Strong.

Buckley, my intensive all-rounder trainee, popped to Woeful fielding last week. This week, he's hit Feeble stamina and Respectable consistency as well. Shaping up nicely, even if he is drained.

Thinking of going for a green-top in Tuesday's match against AidanSwain's Rickmansworth -- it's as close to an FC promotion play-off as you're going to get...and if it's a draw, we'll probably both lose out!

From memory, he's got:

Sp: v.good (BTR 70k+)
F: v.good (BTR 60k+)
M x2: okay (BTR 30-40k)

The 5th bowler is a relatively numptyish M or Sp.

I'm going in with my full attack, so a spinner as good as his, a FM as good as his quick, then F and FM as good as his 3rd and 4th bowlers. My 5th (M) is better too.

Against this, he's got a better batting line-up than mine.

In my experience, green pitches favour FMs, and I thrashed him on one last time. Thoughts?

I've just twigged that it's almost a certainty that a certain Scaly Piscine CC will drop into II.1, my Div II league, next season. Bugger.

Whether or not I'm still there will almost certainly depend on a relegation play-off. It may well be quicker for me to drop down to III and then try to work my way back up to II and thence I.1.

Surely you'd be as well just trying to stay in II till SPCC re-promotes?
II.1's been a pretty hard-as-nails league, to be honest -- two monster teams, and a very canny operator in GM-Hoose. I reckon it'd take me at least three more seasons to promote anyway, assuming I keep on improving and no-one manages to overtake me. I may have a better chance in another II league, and fancy my chances in most III's.

It's all academic anyway -- I've never thrown a play-off, and I'm not about to start now. Just that I won't be too upset if I went down. At least, that's what I'll tell myself ;)

Looks as though your side is starting to come along nicely. You've got some good trainees, there - especially Whitman being proficient at 17. Sure, it's not an oddity but it's a good start.

Congrats on your first superb :) It's always a good feeling to get those first "high" pops. Ross is also nicely balanced - did you buy him or pull him from the youth academy?

Training Mccammon up, so he can move up the order, let Wanless drop into the Number 8 slot, with Kealey batting below the big 2 in Gowshall and Aldred for next year. Eventually, I want him at 3 and bowling 10 overs. That won't be possible in FC though, obviously, so he might have to bat 5 in that. Ultimately, I also want a gun specialist bat, who I'll try to pull at the start of next season. He should be able to open in OD and bat 3 in FC all the time.

Going to go for a WK-Batsman YP next year, to slot in around about 5 in the long run, with another seamer to slot in the next year. And I'd like to buy a superb spinner at some point.

2 months down the line and I still have the same problems as I had then of having no all-rounder to fill the 7th batting position and 5th bowler.

Bowling is looking quite tasty now after a long slog of trying to get a minimum standard. By about 4 weeks into the new season, I hope to have minimum of wonderful-superb.

Then look at getting a young trainee and burn him out on 5 nets if I have the patience, which I probably don't as I never stick to what I say I need.

I can't find the last 1 of these I did unfortunately, it would be good to see how much my team has progressed. Will be looking to get either an Allrounder, or a Bowler early next season, as imo they are the weakest points in my team atm.

Oh, and PY, how the hell did I ever beat you :p

End of Over 7 (1 runs). Flagstone Creek: 22-0, runrate=3.14
Trail by 65 runs. (Central Districts 87-10)
Hodge 4-1-3-0
Monk* 12 (25 balls)
Albrighton 4 (18 balls)

Looks like I underestimated the new PFL lift on bots. Will lose this match, but doesn't bother me much. I'd rather not promote in FC anyway.

Think this bloke is resting his bowlers, which means it should be an easy win for me. Want to stretch it over 3 days though as it's my home game.

Actually going alright in a FC match for the first time in a while, hopefully Dove can make it a triple century.
