Interesting managerial decision from my opponent today. He sent me a message before the game, saying he'd been looking forward to it for a while, hoped it would be a good match yadda yadda, and after making 448/3 on a flat wicket on the first day, rather than declaring overnight and getting right into trying to bowl me out twice, he's decided to carry on with his innings.

So far, they've added 21 runs for the loss of one wicket in 9 overs this morning - he's 12 points behind me in the league and giving me the opportunity of adding to my bowling points, whilst eating up time which he might need in order to force a victory. Very bizarre.

End of Over 119 (Maiden). butterfingersXI: 469-4, runrate=3.94
Westwood 32-3-141-2
Cresswell* 9 (27 balls)
Thikhathali 156 (255 balls)

Last Wicket: Dayton c. Sutton b. Lucas 12 (FOW: 453/4)

Edit: They declared on 490/4 and have me in a bit of trouble at 39/2 after 13 overs, both wickets going to their new RF bowler Heckingbottom. In comes Kepler to (hopefully) steady the ship.

End of Over 13 (3 runs). The Heath CC: 39-2, runrate=3.00
Trail by 451 runs. (butterfingersXI 490-4 dec)
Heckingbottom 7-3-12-2

Think I might have ballsed this one up.

End of Over 16 (1 runs). The Heath CC: 46-4, runrate=2.88
Trail by 444 runs. (butterfingersXI 490-4 dec)
Mohammed 8-1-32-1
Gibson* 2 (5 balls)
Gardiner 0 (2 balls)

Last Wicket: Kepler c. Nuttall b. Mohammed 3 (FOW: 46/4)

Kepler out for 3 to a low respectable on a flat wicket. Not much you can do about that really?

I still have Talbot and Hennessy to come so we're batting fairly deep, but the way things are going I can't see us getting any batting points.

Schutte 27 (128)

Swailes 2/18 (11)

Brackenhurst - 458/1 off 81 overs

Abbey 207* (238)

Aussies Rule 2008 - 115/10 off 43.4 overs

Two-day win with full points = ace. Happy with the twin double-tons, and the bowlers got to share the wickets around.

End of Over 71 (1 runs). Jaffna Jets: 194-3, runrate=2.73 (1st Inn: 88-10)
Trail by 162 runs. (Marxistene 238-10 & 206-4 dec)
Moodley 20-6-48-1
Ellis* 8 (12 balls)
Muralitharan 56 (124 balls)

Last Wicket: Clayton c. Ziyardeen b. Moodley 71 (FOW: 181/3)
While Murali is at the crease we have hope. 350 odd is a big chase and we only really have two main batsmen left and both are at the crease. Need a big partnership from these guys tomorrow to have any chance. Was a bit surprised with their declaration, as they usually bat teams out of the match. They are coming 3rd and 12 points behind me, so they need to win. The first innings batting effort cost us here, but they would have batted longer had we scored more runs in the first innings.

Also this is the first home match of the season that has gone 3 days. We got a home match on Friday as well. Maybe I'll buy an extra batsmen before Sunday's SF.

Rolled for 118, absolutely destroyed by Heckingbottom, who had figures of 7/16 in 17 overs. Can't understand it, he's only proficient at best, and bowling on a flat wicket with sun shining, surely he shouldn't have had that much of an impact?

Hopefully we can at least drag this out to a 3rd day for extra income. I did not see this happening though.

Won by an innings and 184, just after tea. The full 22 points, and only 1 for my opponents, Westbury, leaving him perilously close to relegation -- looks as though he'll have a winner-takes-all match against 5th.

In the other big match, Rickmansworth have recovered a bit, bowling out Yerma for 351 and thus managing 3 bonus points for the match. They're now 33/1, still 157 runs behind Yerma's first innings......should be a win for Yerma, in which case III.14 will look a little bit like this:

1. Withington 215pts
2. Rickmansworth 214
3. Yerma 210

Eeek! Big game is me vs R'worth next week -- the winner gets promoted!

The Heath CC: 114 (36.2) Sutton 46, Kepler 34

butterfingersXI win by an innings and 258 runs

Absolutely spineless performance. We lost 20 wickets in less than 90 overs and didn't even make it into the final day. They're a decent side but there's no way they should have beaten me that easily. I guess that's BT for you though. Can't complain really, a lot of stuff has gone my way so far in BT so it's about time what goes around started coming around.

Nervy stuff. Playing a team in the OD premiership, so it's perhaps not a surprise that I'm trailing somewhat. However, I only need a draw, so I stacked the team with batsmen and rested Tuck - if I don't get the draw I'm nine points behind, otherwise it'll be five points ahead with two games to play. Hoping it'll be possible to shut up shop until stumps, the long tail helped Dynamo to respectability yesterday (5th wicket added 125, 6th wicket 45) and could probably stick things out on the third day if they're only two down after 20 overs on day three, say.

Edit:

Dynamo Morpork 177 for nought (42)
James 87*, Crouch 62*

Pleased with the evening, going into tomorrow 33 up. Still Virk (remarkable), Herbert (remarkable), Porter (superb), Maidens (strong), two respectables and one competent to go, so the stated aim of a draw seems within sight.

Mills 43 (90 balls)

This is going to be interesting...4 wickets and I'm in with a shout, their last 6 collapsed like a deck of cards first innings. Unfortunately, it's hard to get 1 at the moment. If they keep going at this rate it'll be a draw...hopefully a loss is out of the question. Wotton is my young spinner, I have him on aggressive on a dusty pitch to hopefully start his career off like Warne did in the Ashes in 93 (without the wicket first ball obviously).

Needed to beat this team to come first really, but a draw gets me a bit closer with results having to go my way.

Edit: As I was typing that a wicket fell. Hurrah!

if i started at over 86 today batting and i was all out in over 114. then they batted for 44 overs so if i add it up correctly i should have 38 overs to get the total is this correct guys! or do you loose overs for change of innings.

Got there just in time. Great victory. Extremely pleased with the batting in both inning and my bowlers did well to give us a chaseable total with enough time to chase in.
