Draw, needed 13 runs....that shows a palpable lack of AI but great to watch and a good result after 41 all out. :)

Maiden...two...maiden...five...maiden! John's on fire!

They need 14 runs off 18 balls. Come on, come on...
...maiden...wicket maiden...maiden!

IT'S A DRAW!

FOUR maiden overs in a row to secure the draw. Wow.

Phew. I don't want to think about what Sandwith and John's PFLs are
like now, but they saved that match.

Maiden again.

I have to say, this is a choke that even South Africa would be ashamed of.
South Africa? I think the All Blacks might be a better example right now ;)

It was John taking Lea's wicket that did it. It ended up with an utter numpty and a half-decent but absolutely knackered all-rounder trying to hit runs off a Sensational/Sens spinner and Wond/Wond cautious RFM, both played defensively.

Still, you'd have thought that they'd throw the bat a little!

butterfingersXI vs The Heath CC

butterfingersXI: 682/10 (169.2) Westwood 4/170, Liddle 3/112

The Heath CC: 300/10 (120.3) Marrison 58, Hennessy 55, Bartlett 52

The Heath CC (following on) 148/7 (39) Gardiner 32

Match Drawn

I'm really finding out the benefits of batting down to number 9 this season. Resumed this morning on 112/4 in my first innings which quickly became 125/6. Bartlett and Hennessy put on 47 for the 7th wicket but Bartlett fell, bringing Marrison to the crease. Marrison and Hennessy then put on 91 for the 8th wicket, eating up valuable time and helping us score some batting points. Liddle even chipped in at no.10 with an unbeaten 21.

The time they ate up was invaluable as we put up a poor showing in the 2nd innings, but Hennessy (15*) and Marrison (11*) again combined to see us to safety and maintain our unbeaten start in FC.

Day 3 has just begun for Whenuapai, surely heading towards our second win of the season. We made 531 in the opening innings, Duggan scored a run a ball double 100, while Morrison also made his second century of the FC season. Bowled them over for 174 yesterday. They're currently 12/1 in the second innings early on day 3. We've got a dusty pitch to work with, with Lee and Vermaak is operation. So it should be hard to deny us victory from here.

Oh yeah, and this...

11/10/2007 Played a match and received £128032 in gate receipts.
10/10/2007 Played a match and received £129627 in gate receipts.
09/10/2007 Played a match and received £112272 in gate receipts.

Not too bad I have to say. Hmm, yeah.

Dire. Just had arguably my best start against a decent team, somehow.

End of Over 21: 123-0, runrate=5.86
Flack 4-0-25-0
Burger* 63 (60 balls)
Farmer 56 (68 balls)

And then Burger and Kilkenny go in consecutive balls

End of Over 22: 124-2, runrate=5.64
Maidens 1-0-1-2
Tedstone* 1 (2 balls)
Farmer 56 (70 balls)
Last Wicket: Kilkenny b. Maidens 0 (FOW: 123/2)

Still, can't believe Burger (strong/comp) and Farmer (prof/med) managed to make half centuries against a 54k bowler.

There's a new cricket sim along the same lines as BT starting up here: http://fromthepavilion.org/game/login.html

It looks to be very similar to BT in some respects (for better or worse) but there are some differences as well. Beta testing just started, but according to the news announcement 'there will be no more resets of teams, squads etc' so now is probably the best time to join.

Tedstone* 102 (86 balls)
Canning 44 (37 balls)
Last Wicket: Farmer c. Seeby b. Gerrard 84 (FOW: 194/3)

Tedstone makes his first ever OD century, WAG. Really surprised with that effort, this guy has a gun bowling attack going by his ratings.

Haha, I seriously have no idea what's going on here. Maybe they underestimated me and TIEd it.

Looks like they did TIE it or rest a player or two, they've made wonderful spin before.

Rolled them for 72, then chased it 1 down in 14.3 overs. Hocking and Hiller being unbeaten. Looked at my ratings and everything lost a level, even lower order, what the ****?

What's the best way to increase your player's ability quickly? I see a few players around that aren't so old and have ridiculously high ratings (100,000+). Is it just a matter of giving a player a lot of training sessions for a long period of time?

I had that last week mate, couldn't think for the life of me what had changed until I realised that nothing had and it must be a bug or summats.
