Dunno what the maximum age is, they can probably play well into their 30s but their skills start to decline once they reach a certain age (at the moment this age is unknown). I'm just talking about 'old' in terms of training - once players start to get beyond 20 or 21 training takes too long to bother with very much. Having said that, I trained a 23yo bowler last season and his skills improved a little. I'd suggest you don't train players over 20/21 unless their skills are already very high.

Because they can't really be trained, older players go much cheaper on the transfer market. In the long term their skills won't develop, but in the short term they will be better than a lot of the players new teams start out with, so it's worthwhile to get a few players like that if you are in your first season.

Tbh andy, it looks like they gave you a worse team than Jamee's.

But you won your match, and Jamee got thumped.

Umm, can't see any allround potential there really, none of your batsmen can bowl. The XI you posted looks pretty much like the best you can manage with that squad. Though you do have a couple of players with better bowling skill than Leadbeater, but worse consistency, which is probably why you picked Leadbeater. I'm not sure how important consistency is, so I'm not sure who to go with for that spot.

But yeah, look at the transfer market and hope for some good youth pulls.

Yeah, I went for Leadbeater for the consistency, and mainly just to see how he would go in the first match. I was thinking about giving him one more match to see how he goes. Sutton, at 18 and mediocre batting, is my main hope for training, am hoping for some good things from him.

Dove is clearly your best batsman but he's a destructive player so maybe not worth risking in an opening position, up to you. It's not a bad starting squad actually, you've got a few decent batsmen and something I don't have, a good spinner. Pace bowling is a little light though. You've actually got a better keeper than Attwood, but he can't bat at all so I wouldn't use him. You've got three players with strong leadership, so take your pick for captain.

Hard to tell, but you should get quite a lot. I just looked at the transfer market, and there's a guy similar to Donovan who's going for 173k:

A little bit better than your guy but not much difference. I put two proficient keepers on the market, one with feeble batting and one with worthless batting. Both of them are 25yo, so I don't expect them to go for much. Don't need them though, so I'll take whatever I get.
