Yea, same here. Can't be bothered rejigging the nets again, they would be going for 100k minimum if they were bottom respectable I reckon.

ill take him at 40,000 anyway, considering i sold an 18yo comp batter last week for over 70,000 and he had wages of $492 it can't be bad

Definitely, most people don't even look at the wages and when they see a few worthless attributes they overlook them completely.

Important news on Battrick for those that can't be bothered to log in:

From week 8 this season, we will be making some changes to the training of players.

You will now find that your young players will take a lot longer to improve their mental skills, having to rely much more on their natural talent, whereas your older pros will find it easier to improve the mental side of their game due to their maturity.

Also, all players will find it just as easy to improve their stamina as one another, irrespective of their age. This will probably mean that your younger players will improve slightly slower than at present, whereas the older players will find improvements come much quicker than they do now.

It makes sense I suppose on both counts, but the mental skills bit is still a big change and I guess this means that you'd better get cramming in those secondaries for the youngsters while you can.
are they tellin us its better to grab 23yr olds and train them?

Wow. Find an old guy with good primaries and you're in.

Helps me a fair bit actually, I've got 3 "oldies" that could really do with some stamina/secondaries. A feeble bat competent bowl all rounder, a respectable bat and a competent bat.

Better load up my younger players with fitness/primary/fielding/keeping nets.

We'll have to wait and see, depends really how long the pops will take after the change. With it working the way it is now, the starting point is obvious, 17yo takes the least time and it goes up a week after that. After the change it could be 35yo, 30yo, 25yo anything - although I'd expected it would be a much smaller drop off between say 25 and 30.

Anyway it'll be good to round out my all-rounder Maxwell and my bat Shields...

The changes don't make older players any better unless they already have decent primaries
Indeed, I expect there'll now be an age, like early 20s where there's a good trade off between primary training times and secondary training times.

Interesting how this guy is going at 120k already with over an hour to bid (it was the opening price tho, so that explains it to a degree)...

I let skd have a guy with 2 levels less stamina, 1 level more fielding and £200 more wage than this for 40k... (I'm trying to build up a decent amount of cash to cream interest off of - I worked out if I could keep £500,000 I would have made £500,000 off it in 2 and a half seasons with just 6 financial advisors).

There's some quality 17yo people on the market at the moment if anyone wants any!

EDIT: Scrap that, they've been sold. :D

Could be looking at a fairly high score here in my league match. After Heard got their opener out with the first ball of the match, there was a 204 run partnership before Heard got two wickets in his next two overs.

End of Over 43: 227-3, runrate=5.28
Heard 7-0-34-3
Gillespie* 10 (7 balls)
Grahames 3 (2 balls)

Last Wicket: Hook b. Heard 98 (FOW: 219/3)

Heard ends up conceding 66 off his 10 while Giles takes two in his last two overs.

End of Over 50: 281-5, runrate=5.62
Giles 10-0-41-2
Mathis* 3 (2 balls)
Gillespie 32 (24 balls)

Last Wicket: Marsden b. Giles 16 (FOW: 278/5)

Near on 80 runs scored in the last 10 overs for four wickets

Another comfortable league win this week.
Boof Lehmann XI 10/213 45.2overs
Ocarroll 59 (87)
Gothard 4/32 MOTM
Westhead 3/21

College Dropouts 1/214 37.4overs
Jayasuriya 105 (106)
Kennedy 77 (109) Not out
Adams 20 (13) Not out

Looks like i have no chance in my cup match unless i GFI and my strong opening batsmen can outscore there team but i doubt i can pull that off so i will TIE and throw the match unless if yous think i could win.

Phew... Had a few nerves there but we eventually came off with the win. Must say I was very upset with Griffin getting out 4 runs and 2 balls away from victory, after he'd been in since the score was 1/7.

Wallaroo Lions 5/281
Thabang 101 (126), Hook 98 (126)
Heard 3/66, Giles 2/41, Drench 0/43

Magical Ponies 5/283 (47.3)
Griffin 114 (124), Nomvete 70* (70), Birchall 57 (55)

Nomvete and Griffin put on 126 runs together after we were teetering at 4/152.
