Got this guy for 20k

Gary Callery (350414)
LH Batsman, LF Bowler, competent form, fresh
(respectable batting form, mediocre bowling form)
A destructive player with respectable leadership skills and worthless experience.

Plays For: Mildert Warriors
Nationality: England
Age: 18 Years Old
Battrick Rating: 4,666
Wages: £379 p/w

Stamina: feeble Wicket Keeping: abysmal
Batting: mediocre Concentration: feeble
Bowling: worthless Consistency: woeful
Fielding: respectable

I just wanted a good fielder mostly, my current number 7 is mediocre-mediocre bat (who hardly ever gets a bat anyway) but has woeful fielding - which is a bit of a pain. The fact this guy is 18 is just a bonus really, I'd have gone for them if they were 28.

Which attributes count towards wages again - Adamc - anyone?

Yea I think a lot of players just look for 17 year olds, so many mediocre 17 year olds are going for 100,000+ at the moment - madness.

Scaly Piscine - only primaries (batting/bowling/WK) count towards wages. There were four youth pull bugs who had remarkable batting, bowling and wicketkeeping, and all had wages of £25,639 (three of them were in the same team).

Some of the internationals are underway now. Australia thumped Pakistan, made 247 then bowled them out for 60. Like IRL, Pakistan are having the worst administrative problems at the moment (e.g. the u19 manager calling up all the best u19 players without telling the NT manager, resulting in public argument etc.). Playing NZ in about 18 hours, should be a close match.

I noticed someone had a player with my surname (Beevers), but no players with any of the first names in my family.

Yea that's what I was hoping regarding the wages, so the 20k guy isn't just a bottom-of-the-level mediocre bat with his £379 a week wages.

Will have to follow some of the internationals, should be interesting. It's always interesting when someone gives away a players attributes (some guy with woeful batting and competent bowling with huge secondaries) and then see how average that players career stats are.

Some interesting results in the ODIs. India beat the Saffies by six wickets, which was a bit surprising considering India has the weakest national squad IMO. They seem to have decided to give all their best 18yo players to the u19s, which makes it more surprising that their national team won and their u19s got thrashed.

Sri Lanka (the smallest country) did well to make 243-9 against England (nearly 15 times as many users), especially considering SL played on TIE (though England probably did too). England u19s are pretty much dominating SL u19s though.

England's best batsman just got out first ball...could be an upset here.

Good start for the WI team, 51-0 after 9 overs on a dusty pitch, although they've now just lost a wicket. Will be interesting to see how Cuss does...

Yeah, not too bad despite losing probably our best batsman. Two spinners operating at the moment, so I'm just hoping they'll survive and keep the RR above 4.5 as I've got a few sloggers lined up for later.

Cuss got done in by their gun spinner so we're struggling a bit now at 82-2. Summers and Fuller are both set to normal, so things should be going pretty slowly for a while, but as long as we can see off their spinners I don't mind.

I'm surprised by how many 'dusty' pitches there have been so far and also how relatively low fielding ratings have been, I'd have thought they'd be quite decent because of the high rate at which secondaries improve under fielding training, so I'd have expected nearly all of the players to have received fielding training.

Were there many near specialist fielder type batsmen available?

Yeah, after seeing that three of the four ODIs in the first round were on dusty pitches, I dropped an allrounder (who can bowl spin a bit) and brought in a second specialist spinner. I was hoping that it would be a while before we came across a dusty pitch so I would only have to use the allrounder sparingly, but didn't quite work out that way.

Not sure why the fielding ratings are so low, but looking at my squad, there aren't really any players with outstanding fielding. None of the players that missed out have better fielding though. Probably will go up quickly over the next season or two as most managers are being encouraged to train fielding.
