I think England have to get in the position where they have Root, Pope, Stokes but you want that from 4 rather than from 3 so no idea what you do with the top 3.
Somehow they have a literal specialist opener batting 4.

Norwood's on Fire
Someone made a good point yesterday* that Headingley is a bit like the WACA with LBWs, they are often going over by more than you think live.

*Unless it was Burgey, in which case he no doubt heard it from someone else.

Burns and Sibley opening

That could be the ugliest opening partnership in test history when it comes to munted looking techniques.

**** me what an absolute mess. Denly should be batting 3, root 4. Roy shouldn’t be anywhere near the test team. Whoever made those decisions should be slapped. Utter madness.

Batting at 3 this season for Kent, and that's where he should be batting in this side if he wants to keep his spot.

Burns
Sibley
Denly
Root
Pope
Stokes

Should probably be our top 6 right now.
Something like that yeah. Can we just bring Trott back?

I can't really work out how burns keeps doing a decent job up front this series. Thought he looked rubbish but he must be doing something right.

Root’s average looks likely to fall below KP’s. They are pretty close now.
It was over 53 at the start of the last Ashes. Pretty alarming drop.
