Discussion surrounding the first Ashes Test at Edgbaston, Hole de Merde
Start time : 11.00 am UKDST (8pm Australian EST)

It's about that time, with only a week or so until the game.

Yeah not a city with a lot to appeal to visitors but Edgbaston tests are usually good.

It’s like Attica and Vue du Monde being decent but Melbourne itself is still a pile pf turd.

Tickets for 1st and 3rd days, absolutely buzzing.

Slight concern that it’s a little soon after that incredible high. Think we need something special to happen in the first couple of hours to keep the good feeling going. A few hours of Smith and it could all start to look a little flat. This has to be the most prepared a travelling Australian side has been for quite a while too.

They're current preparing by losing 17 wickets in a day to their own bowlers, mind you. The way that hit out is going, TPC will cop a fractured finger or some such and be out for three tests.

I understand the forecast wasn't great a day or two ago. Hoping it stays away and we get a good test match.

I checked the official sites of the grounds for all 5 tests and all days are sold out from 1-4

Haha, just seen the scorecard. Think we’re in for some low scoring matches. Should be fun.

Edgbaston always has epic Test matches. England vs. India last year was a cracker and that Kohli vs. Anderson battle was one for the ages. Should be a good one.

Apparently CA actually asked for a green deck that was dry underneath, so it would move and be up and down. Clever. No one has ever tested teh well worn theory that batting on a deck with sideways and variable bounce is essentially a lottery. Good to have it finally confirmed for the cricketing world.

Should be an easy victory for England once Murtagh qualifies the evening before the Test
