Starc Twin Hat-tricks

Does England have to worry by this performance of Mitchell Starc? Twin hat-tricks in a match could be a worrying thing.

Ddin't he only actually dismiss one top six batsman in those six wickets though ? Not taking anything away from his achievement mind, still takes some doing. But, yes, I think he will be a real threat to this England line-up.

He hasnt yet had a great test series yet has he. Maybe a pretty good one in sri lanka? Still be more worried by hazelwood

He had an ATG Test series in SL. Granted, a few of those SL batsmen look like bunnies in hindsight, but still.

The way England's top order has been over the last few years that's all he'll need to do, they score fewer runs than the tail!

Harsh, but fair. All the Aussie bowlers I would think will be rubbing their hands at getting stuck into this England batting line-up. Don’t think Cook and Root have ever been such big wickets in a series.

Lets hope Alastair Cook to score some big runs in this Ashes. Always loved his batting, watching him score 200s in Test Cricket.

All things considered I reckon Starc’s been a bit of an underachiever in his Test career to date. He’s bowled some great spells (e.g. final day v Pakistan at Melbourne) and had that record-breaking series v Sri Lanka but considering his talent he should have a better average than 28.

In a funny sort of way those twin hat-tricks highlight the issue with him. He can have great moments but Sri Lanka 2016 aside, hasn’t had many outstanding overall Test performances. He relies a bit too much on bowling the ‘glory ball’ instead of bowling quality spells that bring pressure and wickets.

The best example of this was in the 2nd Test v India this year when on a wearing pitch where pressure was invaluable, he was bowling around the wicket to Rahane & Pujara trying to bowl the miracle delivery and instead conceded easy runs in what was probably the pivotal partnership of the series.

I heard his averages against openers/middle order and tails are very different. He is basically excellent against the tails but expensive against the specialists bats.

Gets his wickets more through pure skill than guile it seems. Hence being unplayable to batsmen below a certain calibre, but expensive to those above.
