In fairness to myself I remember very little of the 05-06 season. Pre Sky for me and I hadn't really discovered the internet at that age.

Tremlett and Collingwood have also been correctly named but not placed.

Naming all the players between Broad and Root's debut is fantastic trivia. A whole five year period where none of the people debuted are still playing. Lost generation, at least in terms of the young players used.

There was a Somerset lad called Johnson who debuted around Anderson's time. Only know his name because he got mentioned in Ricky Ponting's 2004 captain's diary. Freddie had a big match in Johnson's debut iirc.

Yeah it's something I've been thinking about recently. Part of what inspired this question was working out that Root is 5th in seniority in this England side if we define seniority as "when they debuted." There's a marked lack of players in the side around Broad's age and experience who should be coming into their peaks with plenty of experience to guide the likes of Root.

Ed Smith and James Kirtley debuted together in the 04 SA series. 618-619?

I'll pay this. 3 Tests, 16 wickets @ 17, never selected again once Harmison came back from injury.

the match that got his name mentioned in Ricky's book! I haven't clicked on his name. His first name must be Robert or Richard.

See above for the scorecard: "We're only in this match thanks to a quite extraordinary innings played by our tailender" was the quote, so I always picked him in Cricket 2004 because of this. (I played as Somerset). Then last year when I was reading Ed Smith's book I saw his name again when looking at the scorecards for that summer.

Strauss and GJones must be very close to Bell. SJones was here in 02 so he's before Anderson, can't remember if Hoggard and Harmy were? Was there another keeper between GJones and Alec Strewett?
