So we're up to 2010 Pakistan in England tour. Then it was India. Two meter George debuted, 416. Ashes, Doherty 417. Beer (418) and Usman (419) at Sydney. By now Harris has debuted so he must be 413. Copeland 420. Marsh 422.
All correct.

hahahah **** I meant to type Beau's name. I know for a fact that the spinner machine chewed out Casson before anyone else!
Yep.

I don't recall the numbers exactly from here, just know some sequences such as Agar then Faulkner and Henriques before Maxwell.

From my list there is one name that I've completely overlooked..

EDIT - Read Spikey's post.. Bird is the word.

So Cummins 423. Warner, Starc and Patto take us 426. Cowan in the India series takes us to 427. Don't think anyone else debuted in that India series. So Matt Wade in the Windies is 428. Don't think we had a series between the Windies and the 2012-13 home summer. So Quiney is 429. John Hastings 430 (SHOULD HAVE BEEN HAZE). Jackson Bird 431. And then the Indian tour again. Henriques 432. Maxwell 433. That's it from that tour. Onto the 2013 Ashes. 434 Agar. 435 Faulkner. Then Bailey 436. No changes at all that summer (LOL). Then Doolan (437) replaced Bailey in SA. O'Keefe and Marsh debuted together in the UAE, so 438 and 439. And we're done.

Now, I partly know this by tour because the other week I went through all our series since Clarke became captain because I wanted to figure out the last time Aus dropped a top 7 batsman for solely form reasons mid-series but following a victory. It has not happened since Clarke took over as captain. It possibly has not happened since Clarke and Kat got dropped in the 05-06 summer. Bailey and Marsh survived through a series because we won the matches. Hughes kept on getting dropped mid-series because we'd lose.

That's really impressive how you did that.
2 weeks ago I would not have been able to do that. 395 was probably the trickiest. I knew someone debuted between Clark and Hodge. I knew Symonds re-appeared that summer but then I remembered the **** stole Kat's place for the first test against SL in 2004 (388!), so I was clueless for a second. Seeing Rogers at 399 reminded me about Jaques.

Wasn't Katich a victim of the 2005 defeat? Or was it only Martyn that was binned immediately following that series?

Reckon I could probably do the sort of thing Spikey did.

Edit: Will try and do England backwards from Root.

That's an interesting question because I think a similar exercise with England would see you go back years as well.

So um England.

Swann, Panesar Tredwell Prior GJones Bairstow KP Strauss Trott Collingwood Compton Carberry Morgan Taylor Bresnan Pattinson SJones Plunkett Tremlett Onions Finn have to be added somewhere.

I don't even remember Anderson's debut, like I wouldn't have a clue which makes it difficult working out between him and Bell for me.

Martyn got chopped straight away. Katich and Clarke (in that order I think) got chopped as the 05-06 home summer went on. Technically, one of them lost their place because Hayden (or Langer?) returned to the team from injury and Hussey moved down the order, so it doesn't really quite meet my criteria of only losing their spot because of form reasons, but it's closer than Usman losing his place because Ponting is back from his daughter's birth

also I cant for the life of me figure out who 387 would be for Aus. Can't think of any batsman who debuted between Clarke and when Lehmann stole Mark Waugh's place for the 2002-03 Ashes.(I know Lehmann debuted in 1998)

387 wasn't a batsman. The batsman to debut before Clarke (385) was indeed debuted in the 2002/03 Ashes, but as you've noted, wasn't Lehmann.

653 (and therefore all subsequent answers) is incorrect. Timeline is spot on but you've forgotten someone.

I think I'm missing a few because I'm struggling a bit after that. Remember Amjad Khan in the West Indies, Darren Pattinson 2008 v SA and not much else. Broad was 2007 in Sri Lanka.
