I don't think this is the case at all. He faced 14 balls and basically tried to hit four boundaries.

Yeah Cook was hitting the fielders and got out to a square cut. He was going after him but it didn't work out.

Ok. So maybe not a team tactic for guys like Cook. Maybe call it a tactic for those who can. Cook isn't exactly an aggressive stroke player. Perhaps it's just giving license to go after him to those who want it.
