Indeed.

Yeah Harris has been painted in that way but he's actually pretty sharp. Always under-estimated.

yeah how dare people find rape jokes offensive
Do people get offended by murder jokes? Is murder now a lesser crime than rape? What if he said they were murdered out there. Would that not have been okay either?

It is the PC brigade going mad.

wow aren't you just an expert on rape all of a sudden. tell us about your detailed knowledge of rape culture, its insidious effect on women in society in general and the impacts that demeaning rape has on actual people. please, share your wisdom.

Maybe this is one of those things that have different connotations across boundaries but it's just a very casual locker-room vernacular in our part of the world (which has seen a series of grisly, well-publicized rapes recently in all fairness). We get raped after exams, raped in a losing argument, raped when our team loses. Raped by our government, raped by the cops, raped by the red tape. And Swann only confessed to his own arse getting raped. Is that really so terrible? To the contrary, I feel it's the rape charities being insensitive to his pain, calling for apologies when he's in dire need of solicitude.

I'm not, but I pride myself in being logical.

well us about your detailed knowledge of rape culture,
There is no such thing. I'm not denying that historically we do and did live in a patriarchal society. However saying we are part of a rape culture is ignoring all the other parts of our society (I can just as well claim that we are part of a war culture and that men are greatly affected by it.); some bad, some good.

its insidious effect on women in society in general
Rape is gender blind. Neither does it have the greatest affect, nor the most common, on either gender - that our society produces.

and the impacts that demeaning rape has on actual people.
Murder has a bigger impact on actual people.
