Team Challenge Day 2

The first ever Ashes Test at the Gabba took place in 1932/33, affectionately remembered in England because Australia were pasted 4-1, remembered in Australia because they had an 80 year and counting whinge because bowling that was too good for them is somehow unfair.

4th Test: Australia v England at Brisbane, Feb 10-16, 1933 | Cricket Scorecard | ESPN Cricinfo

Our English contingent between them correctly named Sutcliffe, Larwood, Hammond, Allen, Verity, Ames, Jardine, Woodfull, Bradman and Ponsford as having played, giving them a score of 10.

However, the Australians correctly identified Bradman, Woodfull, McCabe, Jardine, Paynter, Wall, Larwood, O'Reilly, Darling, Ironmonger and Richardson, giving them a score of 11 and securing the point for day 2.

Day 3

Our 2nd individual round will be White Sheep, where the aim is to give the most popular answer. Unlike in Black Sheep, there is no requirement for answers to be correct.

1. Name a ground which has hosted an Ashes Test?
2. Name a member of Sky's Ashes commentary team?
3. Name a bowler to have taken 100 or more Ashes wickets?
4. Name an English batsman to have scored more than 2,000 Ashes runs?
5. Name a member of England's 2005 Ashes winning side?
6. And name a member of the Australian side which won the urn back in 2006/07?
7. Name a 21st century batsman to have scored a century in the Ashes?
8. Name a player to have captained Shane Warne in an Ashes Test?
9. Name an English batsman to have been dismissed by an Australian spinner since Shane Warne's retirement?
10. Name a member of the Invincibles?

And today's team challenge:

Name the players involved in the current Test who have previously played in an Ashes Test at Brisbane?

Once again, all answers to ashespubquiz@hotmail.co.uk

Deadline for Sheep is start of play, end of play for the Team Challenge.

Quite pleased to have actually got three right answers, not really good at knowing which historical players played when.

Thanks for organising this, is good fun :)
