NSW double booked for England game.

Shield clash means England will face weaker NSW team
England will face a NSW 2nd xl cause its double booked for a Shield game.Wonder if this would be classed a first class game,England may well play extra players.

May as well change it and play the development squad that are out there instead. Give all the England players a game and a good workout too.

So not only did they release the Shield fixtures really late, they also didn't look at the other fixtures the states had set up before hand. Who exactly was in charge?

I don't see it as a huge problem. County teams routinely rest key players against touring teams so with the Australian boys back playing for NSW there will definitely be a competitive team that takes the field. Have a look at the NSW squad, take out the best 11 players and you will see the team is likely to feature players like Rohrer, Nevill, Henry, Bollinger, Sandhu/Copeland, O'Keefe, Carters etc.

    I'm going to assume Cummins isn't playing.. NSW potential lineup: 1. Warner 2. Watson 3. Maddinson 4 Clarke 5 Smith 6 Henriques 7 Haddin 8 Starc 9 Copeland 10 Hazlewood 11 Lyon

NSW team vs England: 1 Henry 2 Nevill 3 DHughes 4 Rohrer 5 Patterson 6 Carters 7. Abbott 8. O'Keefe 9. Lalor 10 Sandhu 11. Bollinger. There are some other players not yet named like Bills, Tremain etc who aren't bad or anything..

Yeah, tbf that was my thought, in England it'd basically be a second XI the touring side would play

Very poor planning and someone needs their butt kicked. But NSW at least have depth enough to field 2 reasonably good teams as above.

I'm a little surprised by that. But it's probably more a result of the corner they've painted themselves into than logic.

Who do you ask to speak to when you call CA brockers?

And do you finish the conversation by saying "PS I am not a crackpot" ?

Surely it isn't that big a surprise? The Cricketers on show will be of a higher level compared to other first class matches in the world.

Some fans overreact. If NSW had a full strength team against England that would mean another state would be resting or doing nothing just before the Test match. This way we get 3 Shield matches with all the Aussie reps back plus the touring game which will feature half the NSW team from the first couple of Shield matches anyway. Its no surprise that NSW are hosting this game because they have the most depth (not to be confused with mos def).

How will the NSW side be branded on the day on cricinfo? NSW 2nd XI? New South Welshmen vs England XI?

If it's just NSW then we have a bazaar situation of NSW playing two FC matches at the same time.

Have no problem with it having FC status ftr. Would be silly to have it otherwise.
