Adam Voges says the improved batting by the Aussies is due to the belief Boof is showing in them and the freedom in which he is allowing them to play.

Probably says more about Mickey Arthur than it does about Darren Lehmann.

I think it may have something to do with England having one limited overs bowler too.

60 million people and you can only find one limited overs bowler?

We have about a 1/3 of your population and a "bowlers back" epidemic :D

Apparently a bright enough morning forecast, then cloudy with a few showers in the arvo.

As the Ashes tour moves onto its third Australian Prime Minister, we're expecting a blamy top of 14 in Brum, which is awful.

Brum I mean, not the forecast.

Maybe not, but we've certainly improved on straw clutching.

Players clutching at ashes:

Australia:
Aaron Finch,
Shaun Marsh
George Bailey
Adam Voges
James Faulkner
Mitchell Johnson
Clint McKay
Fawad Ahmed

England:
James Tredwell

Clarke & Bailey struggled along in the last match I guess. Still, improvement might be just around the corner :p
clarke and bailey played good ODI innings under Arthur. Finch played a low sample amount of matches under Arthur. Voges returned to the ODI team under Arthur. Marsh is still Marsh. There's no real improvement. Voges just towed the party line like players always do. It says more about him than it does Arthur.

"Voges just towed the party line like players always do" ??

Like when all the players filled out the questionnaire so diligently for Mickey

How ****ing long is a piece of straw if Finch and McKay are clutching at it?

It's long and it's dangly.

"However, in Test and first-class cricket very few players are willing to embrace equally the disparate ambitions of personal success and entertaining the crowd. After such a brutal display of hitting, it's natural to wonder: why can't Finch do better in longer forms of the game?"

Comments at the time regarding Mickey Arthur's questionnaire:

Mark Waugh: “It’s not under sixes, this is Test cricket.”

Darren Lehmann: “Adults we are, not schoolboys!”
