Ffs Ed, so soft. Bizarre selection for England though, bowling depth is the issue so we try out exactly one bowler who we already know about internationally.

England should have played three seamers.

ANother negative selection from England here by playing Stokes. We just constantly want to cram the batting at the expense of good quality bowlers.

We have to get 20 overs out of Bopara/Wright/Stokes here.

Don't have any good quality bowlers tbf. Should have played one of the crap ones though, yeah.

Don't see how you can say another and constantly when the original plan going into the CT was to have Bresnan batting at 7. It's a bit of an odd selection, but it says as much about our back up one day seamers as it does about how negative a side we are.

Well I would say playing Bresnan is a negative selection too. Whether you agree or not the fact is there are better bowlers than him and we don't need to cram batters in at number eight, nine and ten.

Overton or Jordan should have played.

Stokes is one of the best seam bowlers in County Cricket. You're basically talking out of your arse if you think he's anything like a Wright or Bopara with the ball.

Stokes is fine. Should have not played one of Ballance, Taylor or Wright. Bopara has been injured for weeks and hadn't bowled until the t20 the last week, he was always going to be rusty. Thus putting pressure on the other options so going in 1/2 a bowler short was always going to be risky.

dude you don't need to defend durham players all the time. Stokes isn't one of the best seam bowlers in county cricket. He was rightly selected but you need to give it a rest- it gets boring.

Such as? And Bresnan has always played at 7 or 8.

Bopara is the main issue. He's bowled in all of two t20s in the last month, and not very well at that. The commentators were talking about not bowling him in the first 10 or so overs, but that isn't the problem. You can't expect near enough a full quota of good overs from him off the back of the last month or so, thus play another bowler.

Yeh I know. 10 wickets at 30 in the County One Day set up is an amazing performance. Why isn't he opening the bowling in Test Cricket? He's ****ing amazing.

I would put Onions, Tremlett, Finn & Rankin ahead of Bresnan in the seam bowler rankings at the moment. Broad is easily good enough to bat 8 in Test Cricket with Swann 9 we should be picking our strongest bowlers and not someone who can bat a bit.

You clearly don't know what you're talking about. Stokes is the go-to bowler at Durham once Onions has done with the new ball. He's the guy to make something happen - same as Flintoff was for England.

And Durham have the best seam attack in County Cricket and so yes he is one of the best seamers in County Cricket. He is comfortably in the top 10, given the regular England players virtually don't play CC.

Decent start but it's a shame to lose those two wickets, Stirling especially because he scores quite quickly. The bowling looks poor, which usually means any of our batsmen down to 8 will handle it fine. We have an unusually weak tail though, I miss the days of 8 all-rounders.

I'm a massive Stoke fan but you can't see anything out of your eyes apart from Durham.

Just want to clarify, I have no problem with Stokes playing, but playing him at the expense of an out and out bowler is my problem.
He could have batted seven and played and would have been fine. Buttler six.
