some pretty rubbish views on walking IMO, how is it "common decency" to walk when the same umpire could quite easily give you a **** decision that costs you - the bowlers aren't obligated to call you back are they, so why is the onus on batsmen to walk?

2009 beng recalled as a gripping series is a little different to my recollection. Thought it was more like a contest to see who could play worse.

How many Aussies have walked in recent times bar Gilchrist? Aussies have been non-walkers for as long as I can remember. I was certainly taught never, ever to walk and never, ever did.

I've read a number of articles asserting that the Ashes is now "unique" as being a five match series. Am i the only person who has bothered to notice that England-India next summer is also being contested over 5 tests?

Oh, and shockingly bad article. One point - regardless of opinions about the specific workings of the bad light law and (relatedly) failure to take action against slow over-rates, anyone who thinks that "super strong floodlights" mean that cricket with a red ball can be played until midnight is just demonstrating a complete lack of knowledge. Why does he think the most immediate major obstacle to day-night tests is finding a ball that can be used?

Dunno, with date announced and OT at least already starting the ballot it seems unlikely they'd change it

What's obvious? That Aussies are taught not to walk?

As a batsman it's obvious that you don't walk. Crap decisions happen and walking means you take the bad ones and give good ones back to the bowler. Bowlers don't call batsmen back and batsmen shouldn't be walking.
