Your selectors' handling of him has been a very third way, neither flesh nor fowl approach.

They seem reluctant to either **** him off altogether or give him a decent run in a properly defined role, so he's subjected to what seems like dozens of axings, recalls & shifts to seemingly random top order slots.

I'm still far from convinced his technique will stand up to scrutiny at the highest level, but the handling of him has been very Ramprakashesque.

    - As featured in The Independent.

"The committee discussed the issue of illegal bowling actions, and believed that there are a number of bowlers currently employing suspect actions in international cricket, and that the ICC's reporting and testing procedures are not adequately scrutinising these bowlers."
    - Even the ICC's own official press release thinks things must change

That's the way they used to work it years ago, and I agree wholeheartedly.

tbh I think he is a very good ODI batsman, and for now that's how he should stay in the national set-up, but he is one of our best batting prospects, he has an excellent ability to score big, and this should be harnessed at some point in the test team. But for now, he needs to find his role, and that is up to him, then perfect it in FC cricket (both SS and CC if possible) and then in a couple of years he should be ready.
There are two colours in my head

The back up batsmen (I don't like making test selections from short form cricket) going off this Ryobi cup stuff. Cam White, Rob Quiney, and after today Hartley and Reardon starting well
    Current Favourite XI 1. Cook 2. Gayle 3. Sangakarra 4. Clarke* 5. Chanderpaul 6. Al Hasan 7. De Kock+ 8.Johnson 9.Harris 10. Herath 11. Steyn

Hartley and Nevill should be the ones gunning for a back-up keeper slot, but I don't think we can talk too much before the SS starts

Absolutely. I hate long form teams being chosen based off OD matches. But good form indicators for leading into the shield

Did he even face a ball of spin? (Must have Ashwin got him once)
