*Official* Third Test at Old Trafford

Dammit.

I completely forgot White was, despite the ocker accent, a native born Frenchman.

Was trying to think of any occasions where any two of McGrath, Silverwood, Gough or Sidearse were in the same side as Mick and Hoggy to no avail.

Hildreth strikes the ball nicely but his technique is bad against the moving ball from what I've seen.
I had high hopes for Hildreth, and Joe Denly, a few years back but I suspect that ship has sailed.

It looks very likely to be Taylor if KP's fetlock doesn't pass muster.

its hilarious that we're struggling to find a way to fit Warner in the team that doesn't include someone else getting unfairly burnt

there's this one guy who deserves to get burnt though......................
nah **** we are just trying to work out who we want to burn the most

He's 19 man. Even if you did say yes there would be no reasonable basis.
I'm more thinking that he's got a good while to learn his craft before he's test standard and that he might tail off or decide to become a specialist batsman etc etc..

I'd like to see something like this...

- Rogers
- Hughes
- Khawaja
- Warner
- Clarke
- Smith
- Haddin
- Siddle
- Harris
- Bird
- Lyon/Agar

Much as it pains me to admit but Yorkshire are doing something right with their development programs, if you look at the latest under 19 squad they have 5 from Yorkshire. None from Lancashire and we would be lucky if we have had more than a couple of selections in the past five years or so.
Don't worry, their U13s weren't good enough to beat Oxfordshire today.

Warner's explosive 193 against South Africa A in Pretoria on Wednesday means the errant opener looks certain to come straight back into the Test team, but the 26-year-old has confirmed that if so he will bat down the order.

"I've been spoken to by 'Boof' [Australia's coach, Darren Lehmann] and I'll be batting six if I played," Warner told the Sydney Morning Herald. "I'd just like to bat anywhere in the top six. It doesn't matter where I bat, as long as I can score runs for my team and do as much as I can for the team."

I don't want Warner picked. So what he's scored runs against some ****-weak attack. Just stick with the players you've chosen. Make Warner really earn it. And pay for the absolute rubbish he's been as opener for a long time. I do want Lyon in though. Should never have been dropped.

How has Warner been absolute rubbish for a long time?

The guy has performed very well as an opener outside of 2 overseas series where the pitches were doctored to suit the local spinners

Considering that he has had negligible experience facing spin before playing tests, he should be one of the first hosen IF his attitude is right

Are you mixing up Tests and ODIs? Warner's only really had one bad Test series recently and that's in India. The guy did score four Test fifties in a row not that long ago (granted, against the might of SL)...

yeah, unlike with Hughes, Khawaja, Smith, Watson, Cowan and Rogers, there is no doubt about whether Warner currently has the technique or abilities to score runs at test level. It was purely and simply a form and discipline issue.
