Inverarity out of tour selection role - The West Australian

The turmoil over Mickey Arthur's shock sacking and the appointment of Darren Lehmann has overshadowed the relegation of one of the key figures. National selector John Inverarity will not have a say in picking any of the Test teams despite being on the Ashes tour.

Lehmann and Rod Marsh will comprise Australia's smallest selection panel in recent times but will have to put aside personal difficulties dating back to their tense period together in South Australia six years ago.

The decision to downgrade Inverarity's role astounded former Test captain Kim Hughes.

"I am staggered that you can have the chairman of selectors on tour but he is not going to pick the team," Hughes said. "What is the point of having him there?"
Lol!!!
