Australian captain Michael Clarke has resigned as a selector. Story at theage.com.au and smh.com.au shortly
what the hell is going on at a quarter to 7 in the morning over there

Never liked Arthur but the timing of this is just odd. Is this to give the team an excuse to lose because it looks that way.

Well it's 7am now. Clarke could have resigned last night and now that they've started waking up the news has leaked out.

The administrators were sick of everyone else taking the mickey out of Australian cricket, so they thought they'd do it themselves.

I have no issues with bringing in Boof but why not let the sacking wait till the Ashes (in England) is lost before bringing in Boof for the home series. Now a bad series will have people questioning Boofs appointment when he basically been handed the team on the eve of a huge series with a crap ton of issues festering.

Wow this is getting bizaaaarre. An interesting problem I can foresee in the future now though, is that the power of something like an 'Argus review' no longer holds any value. Some of it's key points where to make the coach and captain selectors, and the latter at least is just another component of it put on the scrap pile. I thought it was pretty useless and superficial to begin with anyway, but nevertheless where does cricket aus run to now in times of trouble...the whole system has crumbled from the top down.

because it's perfectly obvious Arthur hasn't been sacked completely based on the on-field performance

Clarke stepping down is a good move imo, not good for team harmony, which is evidently ****house atm, when everyone knows the captain is judging your performance as a selector. Its hard for him to console and encourage players who've been dropped when he has a say in the dropping.
