I'd give Clarke a rest and let another batsmen have an audition.

Clarke to miss and be replaced by Wade at 5. Playing as a batsman.

As I intimated in the CC Watson thread, I'm a little bit surprised (but, y'know, also not) that Watson's not playing against Sussex. A strong side in the last FC hit-out of the tour against a bowling attack which will really test him and he'll be in front of the bowling machine instead. I mean, you generally back your best players to know what's best for themselves but I wonder what he's going to get out of nets that he won't get out of fronting up to MacGoffin and co.

i guess if he doesn't fail twice in the tour game, they can't drop him.

Nah, if they want to work on technical things I can see why they're keeping him out of the firing line. The middle is never a great place to be tinkering with your technique.

I get that ordinarily but Howard's already said he's a cert for Trent Bridge.

tbh, even if he manages some runs in the next couple of Tests, the spectre of his involvement in the team costs others too many runs. He's like some sort of poisonous organism, almost a living thing which infests every nook of a team and undermines formerly healthy and working units' will to live. I'm sure there's a biological term for it.

Watson has dominated in the warmup matches in both England and India. Regardless of what he scored against Sussex, he would still be under the same pressure against England.

Over 0.2: Putland to Nevill, OUT, no run, full ball swings in late to crash into his pads. Nevill is almost falling over trying to get bat on it but can't. Huge shout for LBW and Umpire Martell eventually raises the finger! P.Nevill - lbw b:Putland 0 (1 ball, 1 minute).

that line-up looks OK, a spin-off between Gazza and Agar while Bird and Starc fight it out over Patto's place while Forkers gets a shot as well. Would like to see see Wade play - even if Haddin also plays.

I think if we slightly alter Top_Cat's criteria to those listed below, we will come up with a more accurate diagnosis:

    1.1 Self-sufficiency in growth signals
    1.2 Insensitivity to anti-growth signals
    1.3 Evading apoptosis
    1.4 Limitless reproductive potential
    1.5 Sustained angiogenesis
    1.6 Tissue invasion and metastasis
(+avoiding immune destruction and de-regulating cellular energetics, wikipedia hasn't yet caught up with the latest Hanahan and Weinberg update)

I heard Agar wont play as he picked up a hip injury in the second Test so Wade will play as a batsman and Haddin the keeper. Despite Rogers making runs in county cricket, I'm surprised he is being rested.
