Have to move the matches on the Gold Coast to Sea World though so they can maintain interest.

Unfortunately, the "evidence' contradicts this as that period coincided with Australia's worst ever ranking - dead last in the mid-80s

IMO, our lack of batting depth atm has little to do with what is being played and more to do with lack of talent
Yeah but we had 2 sides playing at the time.

I agree,I have been calling for Watson to be dropped since the Sri Lanka tests. Just because he is VC and he 'looks' like he will score runs doesn't mean he should stay in the side. It's time to blood a new batsman -either Khawaja, Burns or Doolan to replace this joke of a cricketer.

Honestly, I think Watson should reinvent himself as a bowling all rounder at 6. Takes the pressure off being neither top order nor frontline bowler, and if he fails from there he only has himself to blame.

Not a lot of red ball cricket left to prove it, mind.

Don't think Bailey would be an unreasonable inclusion in the top 6, given his credentials as a pressure player after this game. Took them from 6-96 to 7-266. Would endorse him at 4.

Sorry man but his FC stats just don't back him up as a test quality player - look at what happened to every other Aus player who got selected in tests on the back of ODI performances. Mind you, Bailey just scored a composed 93 in a county game, I may change my mind on Bailey if he has a good run in County cricket.

Rogers scored a pair of 50s (the 2nd one not out) in Middx 10 w win over Notts. He put on 2 century opening stands with Robson who seems to have chosen England according to Rogers.

We're desperate and Rogers should be in the squad for the ashes. Cricinfo were also boosting Voges but his shield record was poor but better than Bailey's. It'd be weird to see either in the squad ahead of Rogers when the only justification for it would be their ltd over records. And thats no justification at all. Expect it to happen.

Bailey's got the mentality for Test cricket I feel more than some of the more recent picks for Aus, he'd tough it out more than trying to go for the flashy stuff asap I reckon.

That or I keep forgetting that despite looking like Collingwood under the lid he isn't.

Couldn't have put it better myself, sums up the current selection panel perfectly.

Sums up current CW selection opinions that they're advocating selecting Rogers despite there being four better openers than him currently in the team.

    5.

I'd bet on Clarke making runs out of position than rogers...
(+ the four players who have actually opened more than 1 innings).
