Hilarious that Craddock picks Faulkner, Ahmed and Hilf yet omits Bird

Must be missing something with Faulkner as everytime I see him bowl it has been straight up and down, medium-fast with a load of junk slower balls thrown in

    Huh.

Would never have guessed Crash was referring to Khawaja from this description:

Don't be surprised if he ends up near the top of the Australian averages, given the pureness of his technique.
Bit of a bottom handed shoveler from what I've seen of him in tests. Not Graeme Smith, tbf, but hardly Michael Clarke either.

& he hardly set Div 2 alight last year.

Interesting Badel picks Rogers too. Won't labour the point, but it's the way I'd go. Desperate times and all that.
Cricket Web's 2013/14 Premier League Tipping Champion

    - As featured in The Independent.

"as much a news event as an actual footballer, a worthy stop-start centre forward, but an all-time hyper-galactico when it comes to doing funny things with cars and hats, a player whose signing proves once again that the Premier League is still undoubtedly the best in the world when it comes to doing things with cars and hats."
    - Barney Ronay on Mario Balotelli

Think Collingwood minus worth ethic and fielding ability.

No way. Say what you want about Usman, but he is way, waaaaay more talented than Collingwood. A classy batsman who has limitations.

    Usman Khawaja 121 v South Australia, 12-12-10 - YouTube

I mean really... Paul Collingwood??? Probably the least comparable batsmen of all time.

    Experts Pick Their Ashes Squads

    My squad

    Clarke
    Warner
    Watson
    Hughes
    Usman
    Smith
    Ferguson ^

    O'Keefe
    Lyon

    Wade
    Hartley

    Pattinson
    Harris
    Hilfenhaus **
    Starc
    Siddle
    Faulkner

^ Please keep reading beyond this point

** just shades Bird - more mature body, and more likely to make an immediate impact if called upon

dont know why you've picked two tasmanian bowlers but not the best tasmanian bowler
Indians can't bowl - Where has the rumour come from as I myself and many indian friends arwe competent fast bowlers ?

With the English bid I said: Let us be brief. If you give back the Falkland Islands, which belong to us, you will get my vote. They then became sad and left

If Haddin wasn't as good as he was in the Shield this year, I wouldn't be against Hartley touring as the back-up wicketkeeper.

And do we make room for Moises? (Because there's no way Faulkner is a genuine all-rounder at present)

Bowlers that England would most like to see named in the Ashes squad - MJ, Hilf and Doherty

Squads without Bird are both perplexing and pleasing to me.

Not seen too much of the boy, but looks as if he's made for English conditions. Latterday Paul Reiffel.

Bird and Hilf won't start in the 1st Test

Hilf, given his experience and compatibility with English conditions, is in my view more likely to make an impact as a fall back option

Plus, as I say, Bird will go into the tour under a massive fitness cloud

Obviously, long term, Bird >>>> Hilf

Nah you're not missing anything with Faulkner; that's what he bowls. Shouldn't be near the squad.

Haddin's batting at Test level has been poo

And his keeping is hardly top notch

As Crash Craddock said, it's time to move on

At worst, Hartley is a younger player who is every bit as good as Haddin behind the stumps
