Poor schedule threatens Ashes hopes | Australia Cricket, Live Cricket, Cricket Scores | Fox Sports

I didn't realize the schedule was that messed up. Great job by CA that is. Stupid focus on hit and giggle for cash.

Still find it utterly bizarre Hussey is playing in this latest match. He's left you in the lurch, why should he get a swansong, you've won the series time to give the guys who have got to play in the big matches coming up game-time.

Dropping him would be very harsh considering what they let Punter get away with. Had he been dropped before the last Indian series someone would have had the opportunity for experience. How could they have been so short sighted as to think both of them would make it through 2013? Age was against both of them and form was an issue for Punter in particular.

Punter did bowl out before this series though, and Ponting's form hasn't been that terrible, I felt he did it to let young oz players get experience, he'd have killed this lankan attack, past it or not.

I'm not saying he should have been dropped before, but after the decision had been made. Don't see how this is good for oz, you've won the series anyway, would probably win the last test if youy brought Steve Smith in. Put a contender in instead.

Team for the first Ashes Test

1. Warner (26)
2. Hughes (24)
3. Khawaja (26)
4. Clarke (31)
5. Watson (31)
6. Wade (25)
7. Maxwell (24)
8. Starc (22)
9. Pattinson (22)
10. Siddle (28)
11. Lyon (25)

12. Bird (26)

I figure if they could give Steve Waugh an extended run on all-round potential, they can do the same with Maxwell (especilly as there's no other batsman knocking down the door)

Assuming he's fit, if Bird doesn't play the first Ashes test I will mail you my left nut.

I have this filed away

I agree Bird should now play every Test, but who to drop from Siddle, Pattinson and Starc. I know Starc is the obvious one, but being LH, handy bat and only 22, he's potentially a bigger star of the future?

Well who else for the top 6 so Wade can bat 7?

Doolan (not proven long term), Ferguson (averages 35 in FC), Cosgrove (too fat to fit on the plane), Bailey (can't score a FC run)....maybe Burns if he has a good end of season?
