Yeah you'd have to think Ponting will have the captaincy taken off him if (and when) Australia lose this one. Think he still has a couple of good years in him with the bat if that happens.

Ponting's captaincy would meke me rage if I were Australian.

I would hate to be bowling under his reign. Just let the kid bowl without interfering for 5 minutes! It's ridiculous.

How long should Strauss bat on for? Unless bowled out, I would keep going until tomorrow.

Some real filth from Smith here. Seems a nice kid and all, but he's badly out of his depth IMHO.

Until all out. Keep them in the field for as long as possible, build the scoreboard pressure, and let them build up the footmarks.

As long as he likes really. Certainly, he shouldn't declare any earlier than tea on day 3, in the unlikely event that the batsman continue for that long.

No need to declare here unless still batting at the end of play tomorrow

Lead over 300. He might be a ****, but I really want to see a Ricky Ponting century in the second dig.

If thats the mindset I'll be happy if we don't take anymore wickets tbh. Wouldnt mind a draw.

Yeah, not bowling well today from what I've seen. I think he's being asked to do too much of a specialist spinners job in landing it in the footmarks and is therefore trying too hard. At least he's gone back over the wicket now. Short ones clearly don't help though. Streaky 50 Prior but well played to get this far after some luck.

If he did, it would create quite the conundrum for the selectors.

400 up with a creamy cover drive from Trott.

& Prior dispatches a rank, rank long hop from Smith to bring up his 50.
