I was looking up some series stats last night. Unfortunately I can't remember much of last night due to a strange dehydration-related illness I am suffering from today, but I think Cook might be close to surpassing Vaughan's 02-03 tally.
I imagine he'll only get one more innings in the series though, bloody useless Aussies
At least he's back ahead of Hussey. At this point if I had to give out MOTS it would probably be Cook.
In 6 innings this series, Cook has got more runs than in the entire 2006/7 and 2009 series put together. (19 innings)
As of this post, three England bowlers average under 20 for the series.
Chris Tremlett has 12 @ 14.66
Tim Bresnan has 2 @ 12.5
Kevin Pietersen has 1 @ 16
Not Ashes specific per se, but I heard on SSN before that Trott now has the second highest batting average of all-time after Bradman, did I hear correctly?
Obviously it's early days etc and Hussey once had this but it's still impressive. What an asset he is to us.
Probably until he gets out though
Yeah if he gets out without scoring he'll slip to I think 5th or 6th.
He needs 47 more, if he gets out, to stay in 2nd.
Still, can't argue with a 60+ average.
In other Trottstats, at the start of this year's summer - 10 tests ago - his average was 37.38. He'd need to get 17 ducks in a row to get it back there.
Think I stupidly calculated what he'd need to maintain his current average
