The Katman farewell thread

Well, since his test career is almost certainly over (unless Hughes fails horrifically), might be an appropriate time to say farewell to one of the ugliest, hardest, but most consistent batsmen in world cricket. Farewell, Katman, we shall miss your crab shuffle and your scoring of 80-90 runs in every single innings.

Well, WAG. Tough, and most importantly strangled Pup

Was a good career. Shame it didn't start earlier.

Whats brought this on?

Even if Hughes turns into Bradman there'd still be a spot in the Australian side for Katich, surely?

Age. He's out for this series, and it'll be tough to force your way back in at his age if Hughes has a decent run. I don't see him coming down at #6.

Wouldn't rule him out personally. Been a very consistent player in recent years, old or not.

Apparently could have had a runner for the second inns but decided to decline. WAG love him and glad NSW will get more use of him to give experience to our younger players.

As Australians we should hope that he doesn't come back, because if he does it would mean there has been more chaos with our batting.

agree with tumtum.
As much as i love Kato (probably my favorite player in the aussie side), his replacement now (Hughes most likely) really should step up and not give Kattich a chance back in. He's at that age now where if someone else has a go and does well there's not much point bringing him back for alittle while longer.

Yeah love the Katman, as frustrating as it was to watch him continuously fail after getting a start. If this is the end of his test career then vale Katman.

If Katich is one of the six best batsmen in Australia, which he probably is because he's one of the best batsmen in the team, then he will be back.

Hughes is no certainty to have an awesome career either. The kid could flop, get injured, take up ballet...

I guess the other thing to remember is that Katich is traditionally a middle order batsman. There may be the chance that he could re-enter the side somewhere between 3-6.

Katman-du! So good the Nepalese have named their capital city after him. No other individual could hold fort in a country covered in rugged mountainous terrain and bloodied royal massacres.
