Personally, I'd beg Stuart Clark back into the side - at least he puts the ball in the area it needs to be in consistently and knows how to wait for a wicket and get a plan working.
This would just exacerbate the problems we have at the moment in my opinion. I don't see why we have to act like there are only 6 pace bowlers in Australia and just keep cycling through them.

I love the work Stuart Clark did for Aus. But he didn't exactly slow England down at The Oval last year without support from the rest of the Australian bowlers. I can't see him doing it now.

There's another guy that keeps it pretty tight playing in the same state team though apparently. The question is whether he'll do it at the next level.

Copeland?

I see the C9 comms are huge Cameron fanboys as well, which should please Cameron as they do hold quite a bit of weight.

And PEWS

I'd go....

Hughes
Watson
Ponting
Khawaja
Clarke
Hussey
Haddin
O'Keefe (they'll go Hauritz tho, which I won't be that upset with)
Harris
Siddle/Bollinger/Hilfenhaus/Cameron/etc (one of those blokes, for the final 2 bowling spots)

Haddin at 6 perhaps? I know it's dangerous to tinker with your batting order based on form and I wouldn't if it was a specialist bat coming in, but with Smith in - perhaps that would work better?

Copeland and Cameron once again bowling beautifully in the shield match against SA. It's getting hard to avoid these guys now...

Would mind that mate.

Let's pick a side we think can win rather than having going on hunches (Dohers being a case in point).

We are still in the Series, surely we are not going to give up and take wild punts just because we fall behind!!

And can we ban the wives for Perth please.

This team looks like it could do with spending some time together and buildiing some spirit.

Nah I think your team is a good team but I'm just wondering whether Haddin -> Smith would work better than Smith -> Haddin. Not fussed either way.

If North can bat at #6 then so can Smith. He bats middle order for NSW, show some faith. Haddin bats at #7, no need to shift him around.

(Personally I wouldn't mind North sticking around at all)

Assuming Chris jr is broken, who comes in? Tremmers probably the best bowler of the alternates in the sqaud, but also lengthens the tail.

Tiny Tim as part of a 4 man attack scares me, so Shahzad? His FC career suggests he can hold a bat even if we've seen precious little evidence to support this in his international outings so far.

Or do we say "**** it" and pick our best bowler regardless?
I definitely think you have to play Tremlett. Firstly I think he's a much better bowler than Shahzad and Bresnan, but even if you just concede he's only a little bit better, Prior is better than your average number seven, Swann despite batting nine for England is better than most eights and Tremlett himself can bat a bit and certainly wouldn't get nosebleeds at nine. Obviously it'd weaken the tail slightly but it certainly wouldn't make it unacceptable.

Anyone reckon Dirk Nannes would answer a call by the selectors and come out of First Class retirement for the Ashes?

What happened with Phil Jaques? He always looked the part. Watson looks in good form with the bat, but you can't expect him to shoulder 15-20 overs an innings and guarantee him to make the best use of his form with the bat. Couldn't there be a case for:

Jaques
Hughes
Ponting
Clarke
Hussey
Watson
Haddin
Smith/Hauritz
Harris
Siddle
Another Quickie

Very unlucky to fall out of favour so quickly after last start century against Winides in 2008?, but has hardly troubled the scorers much since - in short, his Test days are over.

Ah. He can't have youth on his side these days. Must be in his early 30s... He had a nasty run of back injuries didn't he? Maybe he's just not the same player he was then, but last time I saw him play he looked to have the goods - and I see he's playing First Class at the moment.

Injury's basically ruined his career. He's still playing FC but not in the same lightyear as the player who made mountains of FC runs a few years back.
